Salary: $22.07-$24.12 DOE, non-exempt, benefit eligible. 260 days per year, plus 9 holidays and 3 personal days.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Plans and maintains all general education routes; evaluates routes yearly to identify needed changes.
  • Utilizes software options to optimize general education transportation to ensure the most cost-effective transportation options are being utilized.
  • Creates and maintains multiple schedules to coincide with High School and Elementary bell schedule for all general education students, students attending Ag. Ed., and students attending the housing construction class.
  • Maintains accurate route information, student information, maps and driver directions for all general education routes (currently 49 routes).
  • Prepares documentation and required data for the Board and the County Transportation Committee's approval regarding general education route changes.
  • Communicates schedules and changes clearly with school staff, bus drivers, and contractors.
  • Sets up custom transportation options to provide for students who require transportation due to overcrowding in their neighborhood schools.
  • Processes all field trips that come through the Transportation Department for the District, including trip estimates, tracking trips, assigning drivers, documenting any changes to trips and notifying the proper people.
  • Ensures driver compliance with FMCSA drive time regulations to the best of employee's ability.
  • Obtains quotes for services from various contractors to ensure most cost-effective options are in place when outside services are necessary.
  • Makes recommendations to school officials on cost saving ideas.
  • Works closely with District Activities Directors and other stakeholders to alert them to any potential issues with busing to/from events to allow time to make appropriate adjustments.
  • Coordinates statewide with other school districts/mechanics to ensure after hours emergencies are handled appropriately.
  • Leads and participates in transportation meetings, planning meetings, or other strategic meetings as it relates to general education students.
  • Maintains districtwide GIS transportation software and works with Flathead County GIS to ensure accurate routing and planning as well as enrollment and redistricting.
  • Ensures software applications (Education Logistics & PowerSchool) are functioning correctly so that all schools and parents have up to date transportation information.
  • Coordinates the implementation of an electronic field trip request process in collaboration with IT, Activities Directors, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepares and processes payroll for the department.
  • Provides information in response to inquiries in person or by telephone; refers inquiries to appropriate staff.
  • Provides support for other staff members in the department.
  • Performs routine duties of student registration for transportation services, dispatch of drivers, approval of guest passes, assignment of sub bus drivers, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Highly proficient in word processing, databases, spreadsheets and other software programs including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and website programing.
  • Work accurately within deadlines.
  • Demonstrated outstanding organizational and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
  • Skill in arithmetic, grammar, spelling, record keeping and compiling materials for reports.
  • Skill in the operation of a variety of office machines including personal computers, telephones, faxes and copiers.

  • Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, and parents.

  • Ability to maintain regular and acceptable attendance levels.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a Class "B" CDL with P and S endorsements for a minimum of 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience working in an office environment.
  • Experience working with K-12 students.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, lift and carry items up to 40 pounds.
