Job Description

The Director of Web Design Development & Services at Campbellsville University (CU) is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining the enhancement, design, and content of the CU website. This individual will provide consultation on future concepts, development, and direction of web-based services as part of the university's marketing and communication office.

Strategic Planning: Plan, organize, design, and implement strategies to provide web services for both instructional and administrative functions.
Collaboration: Coordinate with CU departments and faculty to assess requirements, identify appropriate internet technologies, and assist in the implementation of web services.
Framework Development: Create and maintain the framework for web page development, including databases, content organization, and navigational structure.
Policy Development: Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to information and internet services.
Content Review and Maintenance: Develop procedures to continuously review and maintain the currency, accuracy, appropriateness, and accessibility of CU's website.
Content Production: Coordinate the overall production and creation of content for the university's websites.
Web Page Design and Maintenance: Design and maintain the university's web pages and assist in the design and maintenance of web pages for individual departments and units, adhering to CU's design standards and brand identity.
Usability Testing: Ensure regular testing of functionality and links, and update time-specific content. Test website usability with end users.
Support and Troubleshooting: Respond promptly to questions and requests for assistance. Provide professional advice and assistance to faculty and staff regarding the creation or revision of web pages and information. Troubleshoot and resolve website problems.
Advocacy and Innovation: Advocate for web-based communications within the CU community. Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge in internet-based technologies and provide insight, advice, and recommendations on future concepts, development, and direction of university web services.
Project Leadership: Provide implementation team leadership for major web service projects and initiatives.
Research and Standards: Participate in ongoing research and keep abreast of constantly changing web design, development, and programming standards. Integrate site analytics into design workflow and monitor and evaluate web traffic.
SEO Optimization: Optimize the university website for search engines.
Accessibility Compliance: Ensure that all CU websites comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the World Wide Web Consortium's Web Accessibility Initiative, ensuring that all website content is equally accessible to people with disabilities.

Skills/Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in website design and development, computer science, graphic design, or a related field.
Experience: Three to five years of experience in the design, creation, and implementation of professional websites, or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the requirements of the position.
Technical Knowledge: Expert knowledge of the website development process, from concept to implementation. Experience testing and analyzing the user experience.
Skills: Demonstrated collaboration, communication, and project management skills. Strong technical knowledge and experience with technologies such as HTML, XHTML, DHTML, XML, CSS, dotCMS, WordPress, JavaScript, Expression Web, Dreamweaver, ASP, SQL, MySQL, Flash, and Microsoft Back Office products.
Graphic Design: Strong graphic creation/editing skills using Adobe Photoshop and related software tools.
Web Standards: Full understanding and demonstrated implementation of W3C web design specifications for optimized semantic markup. Strong knowledge of cross-browser and cross-platform issues and design constraints.
Self-motivation: Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Web Services and Database Tools: Strong knowledge and experience with web services and database tools.
Educational Setting: Ability to work effectively with adults in an educational setting.
