Salt Lake City, United States PEAAC, THE: The Performing, Endurance, and Artisti Full time

A woman-owned holistic sports-medicine and eating disorder clinic is looking for a caring and compassionate Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our team as we build our Clinic. The NP will work closely with the CEO/Primary Physician to solidify patient care policies and procedures and provide excellent care to each and every patient. The ideal candidate will be empathetic, unflappable, understand the demands of high-level performers/athletes, and the convoluted thoughts experienced by people with disordered eating. We specializes in performing artist-athletes (dancers, gymnasts, figure skaters and musicians) and people with eating disorders of all ages, and we are passionate about providing a safe and secure environment for everyone. As a result, we support all employees to obtain a Safe Sport Certification to meet our stringent requirements. The Nurse Practitioner shifts will initially involve direct training with the Primary Care Physician on Sunday-Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. as patient appointments demand. After the initial training/shadowing period finishes (approximately 3 months), the Nurse Practitioner hours will be Tuesdays from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesdays-Fridays (24 hours divided over the 3 days with flexible scheduling). On-call telephone support during non-clinic hours will be shared with the Primary Care Physician on a rotating basis. Patient messages and treatment team updates are common outside of visits; response to patient messages is expected within one business day. Weekly interdisciplinary rounds discussing all clinic patient updates with their treatment team members (eg, dietitian, therapist) will serve as midlevel supervision. NP will be expected to manage medical and psychiatric conditions related to eating disorders; prior experience in family medicine and women's health preferred, experience with sports medicine beneficial but not required. Common systems involved include electrolyte management, GI, reproductive health, bone health, autonomic nervous system, cardiology, MSK. Hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos (hEDS) and mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS) are common co-occurring medical conditions. Co-occurring psychiatric conditions include anxiety, depression, OCD, suicidal ideation, cPTSD, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, alcohol and other substance use. Provider may be asked to serve as PCP based on patient preference. Provider would then be expected to keep patient up to date on health maintenance (at minimum following USPSTF guidelines), as best as possible based on shared patient decision-making. Controlled-substance prescribing requires a medication agreement with the patient. Direct physician oversight required initially and will be changed to intermittent oversight at physician's discretion. Similarly, this is not a weight-loss clinic and prescription of GLP-1 agonists will require discussion with the physician. Trauma-informed care and Health at Every Size (HAES)-aligned care are part of the minimal baseline for this clinic's standard of care. This includes recognition that people in larger bodies deserve the same level of care as those who are straight-sized. Furthermore, the provider recognizes that an eating disorder is a maladaptive coping strategy for underlying trauma/unprocessed emotions and thus recovery is based on managing behaviors while healing the deeper concerns. The roles and responsibilities of this position include: Provision of patient care and other duties as permitted by licensure and defined within Credentialing and Privileging documentation, Credentialing and Scope of Practice, Consultation and Referral Plan (NP), Delegation of Services Agreement (PA (DOPL), or other similar documentation as appropriate. As part of that patient c are, this position is accountable to: deliver optimal patient care through effective clinical practice, education of the patient, patient's family, clinical staff, and others; c nsultation with other healthcare providers, and maintain current knowledge regarding options for optimal patient care and outcomes. Performs detailed medical history; performing physical examination and presenting pertinent data to the medical staff.
