Job Title: Sales Engineer - Steel Joists and Deck

Job Overview: We are seeking a Sales Engineer with a strong background in structural engineering, specifically in commercial construction with expertise in metal decking and bar joist systems. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in collaborating with Regional Sales Leaders, engaging with customers, architects, engineers, and estimators, and providing technical expertise to support sales efforts. Proficiency in Bluebeam, along with experience in metal decking and bar joist estimating, is required. The position involves a significant amount of customer-facing activities and project coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Sales Support:

  • Utilize structural engineering expertise to support the sales team in promoting metal decking and bar joist solutions to customers.
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations during the sales process.

Customer Engagement:

  • Interface with customers to understand their project requirements, challenges, and objectives.
  • Present technical solutions and benefits to customers in a clear and compelling manner.

Bluebeam Utilization:

  • Utilize Bluebeam for document management and collaboration during the estimating and sales process.

Estimating and Proposal Development:

  • Collaborate with estimators to accurately estimate quantities and costs for metal decking and bar joist components.
  • Assist in developing comprehensive project bids and proposals.

Project Coordination:

  • Work closely with Regional Sales Leaders to coordinate project activities and ensure alignment with customer expectations.
  • Interface with engineers, architects, detailers, and estimators to facilitate smooth project execution.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to promote repeat business and referrals.
  • Address customer inquiries, concerns, and technical questions effectively.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sales engineering or technical sales, preferably in the commercial construction industry.
  • Strong background in structural engineering, particularly in metal decking and bar joist systems.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Bluebeam.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Experience in structural estimating and proposal development.

Customer-Facing Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with customers and stakeholders.

Project Management:

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
