Title: Junior Accountant

Status: Full-time

Hours: 40/week, Monday - Friday, 9am-6pm

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Reports to: Financial Controller

Company Summary: SG Services, Inc. provides accounting services, legal services, IT support, tech support and human resource support to the Secretly affiliated companies. These companies include Secretly Group, Secretly Distribution, All Flowers Group and The Numero Group.

Position Summary: This is an entry-level role where the successful candidate has some accounting exposure and knowledge, outstanding Excel and data manipulation capabilities and the ability to juggle tasks simultaneously. You will support the accounting team with day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger management, posting journal entries, reconciling accounts, and supporting the accounts payable function, while ensuring GAAP compliant accounting records.

Responsibilities: Utilizing your accounting expertise and proficiency in managing and manipulating large datasets, you will support accounting with:

Accounts Payable Support:

  • Review and reconcile all domestic and international vendor shipping bills, ensuring accurate and timely coding in the general ledger.
  • Ensure all vendor data is accurate and regularly updated in the general ledger.
  • Assist with the onboarding of new vendors into the general ledger.
  • Review aging reports regularly to ensure accuracy.
Bank Account Reconciliation:
  • Reconcile all bank accounts monthly to maintain accurate financial reporting.
Corporate Credit Card Program:
  • Support the corporate credit card program, including monthly recording and reconciling of U.S. and international credit card transactions.
Intercompany:
  • Ensure the accuracy of intercompany accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Cash:
  • Accurately record all cash transactions in the general ledger.
Tax Compliance Support:
  • Assist in the monthly preparation of U.S. Sales tax and international VAT returns.
  • Support the annual preparation and filing of 1099 forms.
Journal Entries & Balance Sheet Reconciliations:
  • Assist the accounting team in preparing journal entries.
  • Support the preparation of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and completeness.

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel is required (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP)
  • Be adept with large, complex data sets
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a high accuracy rate

  • Proven interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

New York Salary: $55,250
