Electrical Engineer

The primary responsibilities include designing, developing, and testing electrical components, equipment, and systems for small robots and other ground-based vehicles according to customer requirements. Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to electrical system designs. Conducts research to produce design solutions, improvements, and new products. Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures to junior engineers. Reports to a manager and works with the Tech Lead. A specialist in complex technical and business matters. Work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. Responsibilities: * Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes * Designs, tests, and determines fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment, and determines methods, procedures, and conditions for testing products * Develops applications of controls, instruments, and systems for new commercial, domestic, and industrial uses * Ensures that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conforms to functional specifications and customer requirements * Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations * Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks * Maintains regular study habits by frequently reviewing emerging technologies that improve the design, development, and testing of software programming and applications and applies technologies learned Requirements: * Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related field * 7+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience * Proficient in EDA tools * Proficient skills in analog/digital circuit design * Lead DFMEA process * Proficient in functional safety analysis * Has good communication skills * Good team member * Has some leadership skills Competencies: * Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents * Mathematics - Using mathematics to solve problems * Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times * Instructing - Teaching others how to do something * Technology Design - Generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs * Limited independent judgment, creative latitude, and critical thinking * Work closely with manager and team members to meet product requirements Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration.
