Reference #: b6036e9e-1af6-4546-ba2f-ebf9c239d949 Description GAI is seeking an Engineer 3 (transmission line) to join our Power Delivery team. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem-solving, organization, team focus, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real-life problems. Candidates with a minimum of 1-year of experience and knowledge in PLS-CADD are eligible for remote work. Candidates without PLS-CADD knowledge need to be based at any GAI office on-site or on a hybrid schedule. The successful candidate will be eligible for a GAI sign-on bonus if applying without the use of an outside recruiting agency. The Engineer 3 is responsible for technical leadership and the successful delivery of transmission line designs while maintaining the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of projects within GAI's Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills. Competency Knowledge of project management skills and uses of intermediate practices to increase productivity, efficiency, and accuracy. May serve as PM Coach to Task Managers and other PMs. Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design. Job Responsibilities: Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include: Preparation of Specification Packages Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower Design and Analysis of foundations. Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications. Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations. Coordination and development of permits for Railroads, Roadways, and Environmental Crossings. Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects. Must demonstrate attention to detail. Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. Perform complex tasks typically following established processes. Implements effective engineering methods, provides technical guidance, and acts as a resource for engineers and designers. Directly manages projects with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed. Coordinates and develops proposed scope, schedule, and fee for projects managed. Assist in quality control and quality assurance of active projects, providing peer reviews and training of engineers and designers in quality control processes. General Characteristics Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area. Independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Leads tasks and projects of moderately complex scopes. Develops plans, specifications, and other project documents. Selects appropriate principles of engineering economics, and probability and statistics to analyze risk in a complex engineering problem. Minimum Years of Experience 8+ Years of Experience Education B.S. or M.S. Engineering Certification/Licensure Professional Engineer (P.E.) License, reciprocity in multiple states. Technical Responsibilities Develops and reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance. Keeps informed of updates to standards, regulations, and best practices. Analyzes complex engineering projects to determine design requirements, uncertainties, and constraints. Project and Task Management Assigns tasks to other technical and non-technical staff. Predominantly plans and coordinates detailed aspects of the engineering work. Prepares scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments. Assists with proposals to provide professional services or obtain funding for engineering projects or projects. Management Responsibility Receives supervision and guidance relating t overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters. Receives direction on unusual conditions and developments. Mentors' direct reports and other engineers. Demonstrates professional attitudes relevant to the practice of engineering, including creativity, curiosity, flexibility, and dependability. Communication Skills Possesses advanced oral and written communication skills, including interpretation of complex technical and contractual language. Considers the needs of diverse project stakeholders. Leads project meetings and represents the organization in communications pertaining to broad aspects of engineering assignments.
