Responsible for scheduling and performing Interventional procedures in the Radiology Department. Responsibilities
  • Supports the philosophy and objectives of Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Radiology Department. Upholds and exemplifies these values with regard to patient, parent, and hospital staff interactions.
  • *Operates varied imaging equipment. Programs equipment for accurate imaging, determines correct anatomic area for imaging, and adjusts equipment factors for patient age, weight, size, and special needs.
  • * Identifies, prepares and administers contrast under the direction and supervision of a licensed practitioner. Performs venipunctures and accesses various catheters under the direction of a licensed practitioner. Follows department protocols for contrast dosage.
  • Performs Interventional procedures in accordance with established protocols. Training and knowledge to modify orders to reflect appropriate procedure based on clinical questions and symptoms.
  • *Consults with Radiologist for procedural approval and to determine additional or special imaging protocols, preparation, and imaging techniques.
  • Represents the department’s customer service focus for both internal and external contacts. This shall include appropriate speech, mannerisms, and personal presentation as outlined in the Radiology Department Code of Conduct.
  • Maintains stocking of accessory supplies, patient care items, and cleanliness of the Interventional imaging areas. Performs required quality control of equipment. Initiates service requests and documents required information for Clinical Manager Interventional.
  • Assists the Clinical Manager Intervention in collecting and monitoring QA projects within the section.
  • Mentors and monitors new employees and rotating students as directed by the section Clinical Manager Interventional.
  • Complies with radiation, magnetic field, and general safety policies.
  • Complies with CHI, Radiology, JCAHO, OSHA, and other regulatory guidelines and policies.
  • Performs procedures for research and testing, assisting the Radiologist in documenting and maintaining research information.
  • Maintains knowledge of current applications in the field of Radiologic Technology, electronic imaging through seminars, educational programs and self-study.
  • Call rotation of week day, weekend and holiday will be responsible for each member of the IR team.
  • Performs other related responsibilities required to maintain section and department functions.
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Education:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited educational program for Radiologic Technology.

Certification:

  • Possess valid CPR certification

Licensure:

  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required. (Active status)
  • Possession of a valid “R” category Ohio Radiological License.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years clinical experience in the Radiological Sciences; preferably in a pediatric setting.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Interventional procedures.
  • Stroke Intervention experience highly preferred.

Skills:

  • High level of communication and organizational skills to meet the demands of a modern pediatric Radiology department’s patient care and customer service mission. 

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Standing/Walking/Sitting/Stooping/Kneeling - Consistently (67-100%)
  • Reaching/Bending/Lifting/Carrying/Pushing/Pulling up to 50 lbs. - Consistently (67-100%)
