DePaul Community Resources seeks a full-time (37.5-hour workweek) Foster Care Specialist.

JOB SUMMARY The Foster Care Specialist practices responsible, professional community social work and provides case management services following established social work principles. Supports and assists clients and families with personal, family, and social growth. Empowers the client/family to the highest level of self-sufficiency. The Foster Care Specialist provides comprehensive casework services to children, adolescents, and families on assigned caseload.

TRAINING, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

A Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related human services field such as Psychology, Sociology, or Counseling from an accredited college or university plus one year of experience in providing casework services to children and families, or a Bachelor's degree in any field and two years of experience providing casework services to children and families is required. DePaul may accept applicants as trainees with a Bachelor's degree in any field. Information about the employment of trainees is based on compliance with Minimum Standards and is available from the Program Director. Additional degrees related to Social Work and not listed above may be considered. Employees must participate in New Hire Orientation and New Worker Training, Attachment Training, Pre-Service Training, ongoing in-service training, and additional training available in the community.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

The applicant must submit before hiring a current MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) of at least seven years and possess a driving record that complies with DePaul policy. The applicant shall not have been convicted of any barrier crime(s) on the criminal background report. The applicant will have no founded disposition of child abuse or neglect as documented by the Child Protective Services (CPS) background report. The employee must occasionally lift a minimum of 25 pounds, physically assist physically dependent individuals, and restrain a child when appropriate with proper certifications. Must have and use personal transportation. Work hours may include afternoons, evenings, and weekends, as well as regular business hours. The applicant must be willing to be on-call periodically to provide emergency casework coverage.

Compensation depends on qualifications and experience.
