Position Overview:

The Director of Analytics and Insights will serve as our data visionary responsible for leading, managing, and providing oversight to enterprise data collection, storage, vetting, and distribution. They manage a team of business intelligence analysts. They may also supervise other support staff members along with serving as the liaison for cross-functional internal data needs, external contractors, or service providers. They are responsible for providing the requirements for the comprehensive efforts related to the design, implementation, and operation of data storage and analysis systems. They take a lead role in driving the data strategy and ensuring the department meets organizational goals.

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

Support Data and Analytics strategy, process improvement, project management, and reporting:

  • Ensure consistent, reliable streamlined access to internal and external customer data needs
  • Provide ongoing oversight on Data and Analytics led projects, aligning with organizational objectives
  • Guide reporting and data exploration and recommend improvements
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create, update and review functional and technical design specifications and solutions to satisfy project requirements
  • Support and independently own tasks related to design, development of conversions and interfaces
  • Build, maintain, and communicate detailed reporting, dashboards and analysis on key business metrics and challenges
  • Contribute to the development of models around predictive recommendations, marketing attribution, financial forecasts, etc to support the best decision making within the organization
  • Develop consistent tools and approaches for data analysis, automate repeatable tasks and drive process efficiencies
  • Improve documentation and processes as they relate to our internal and external application environment.
Manage direct team & provide oversight to members of the finance team
  • Provide oversight to members of the finance team for the training and development of team members
  • Guide the finance team on how to build and maintain dashboards to track performance
  • Establish operational objectives and work plans, and delegate assignments to subordinates
  • Set direction for direct reports to ensure supported business units are receiving the customer service and innovative technology solutions required
  • Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff
  • Develop and grow the technical competency of the finance team.
  • Manage staff by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance
  • Collaborate with VP on the overall roadmap for the Data and Analytics reporting team
Budgeting:
  • Plan, forecast and manage budgets
Location Requirement:

This role is located in the Greater Phoenix area. This position is required to be in office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs); Fridays are optional remote work days.

Job Qualifications:
  • Requires a BA/BS degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 5 years supervising an analytics team, required
  • At least 1 year experience with ETL methodology, database architecture and data analytics processes preferred
  • Ability to mentor others, and provide troubleshooting support
  • Solid background in ETL software, Power BI preferred
  • Experience with large scale internal and external facing dashboarding
  • Experience in Azure, SQLEE, Snowflake environments
  • Proficiency in implementing data integrity and validation solutions
  • Multi database and/or multi language preferred
  • Experience in SQL
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Able to perform complex tasks involving datasets and statistics
  • Knowledgeable in agile tactics and methodology
  • Strong communication skills with ability to translate technical requirements for business and client needs

Physical Requirements:
  • In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions
    • Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings
  • Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels
  • Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches. Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds
  • Hearing Requirements: Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.
  • Reading and Writing Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.
  • Vision Requirements: Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools. Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed.
  • Technology Proficiency: Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software.
  • Effective Communication: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in office communication tools.
