The successful candidate will define and develop new mobile/transportable shelter system designs and identify relevant subsystems such as hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, HVAC, power generation, and other required mechanical subsystems. They will also assess requirements and system architecture to develop mechanical design solutions that support hardware limitations and ensure mechanical interface compatibility. The role involves analyzing and resolving design compatibility issues, coordinating design efforts from requirements definition through testing verification, and transitioning completed designs into fabrication activities. The candidate will also conduct independent technical investigations, including failure analysis and root cause determination. Experience in Finite Element Analysis and technical writing, including engineering analysis, trade studies, feasibility assessments, and analysis of alternatives, is required. The role requires interfacing with customers to clarify requirements, provide technical status updates, and deliver design presentations as required. The candidate will also be involved in developmental and qualification testing, providing input to test plans and procedures, conducting testing evolutions and correcting deficiencies. The role also includes performing site surveys and engineering assessments, developing drawings, User Guides, test plans, test procedures, rack elevations, equipment maintenance manuals, and other documentation. The candidate will also be a member of the quality inspection team. Must Haves: Active DoD Clearance BS/MS in mechanical engineering, with 5 years of demonstrated experience supporting the DoD or other federal agencies in a mechanical engineering capacity. Must be proficient in ACAD 3D, Autodesk Inventor and MS Office suite Nice to haves: M.S. in mechanical engineering with 10 + years of design experience with mobile/transportable systems for the DOD.
