The Database Specialist will join a high performing agile team using the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology to support a nationally significant program. Program execution follows DEVOPS best practices and employs robust development, test and production environments. Digiflight, Inc. is looking for Database Specialist to support a government customer in a DevSecOps program operating in the SAFe Agile framework. She/he will manage database auditing, to include daily review of audit reports; continually investigate methods to improve database reliability and performance for peer review and implementation alongside developers and systems engineers. She/he provides input on capacity planning, high availability solutions and upgrade strategies, including proactive database performance monitoring, tuning and best practices implementation.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Designs, implements, and maintains complex databases with respect to access methods, access time, device allocation, validation checks, organization, protection and security, documentation, and statistical methods.
  • Applies knowledge and experience with database technologies, development methodologies, and front-end and (e.g., COGNOS)/back-end programming languages (e.g., C#, Java, JavaScript).
  • Designs, creates, and maintains databases in a client/server environment
  • Projects long-range requirements for database administration and design in conjunction with other managers in the information systems function
  • Conducts quality control and auditing of databases in a client/server environment to ensure accurate and appropriate use of data
  • Responsibilities includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design.
  • Perform remedial actions as necessary to ensure database remain online and available to applications and user.
  • Works with application owners/developers to ensure database meets their requirements for performance and availability,
  • Performs database programming and supports systems design.
  • Maintaining information assurance (IA) security documentation and artifacts for SQL databases.
  • Includes maintenance of database dictionaries, overall monitoring of standards and procedures, file design and storage, and integration of systems through database design.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Documented experience that includes Netezza, Oracle, SQL, PostgreSQL, RDF
  • Familiarity with technical controls in the Risk Management Framework, as they apply to SQL databases.
  • Experience also shall include capability to work on various operating systems and additional programming languages.
  • Has experience in at least two projects in a large organization responsible for administering, operating, maintaining, and securing a large-scale computer database.
Candidate must be a US Citizen

Candidate must have a MA/MS degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience. This may be substituted with a BS/BA degree and a minimum of 6 years of total experience.
