- Is a dynamic department with 28 Adult Operating Rooms and 6 Operating Rooms in the Winship Cancer Institute- Part of Emory University Healthcare- Employees participate in cutting-edge surgical technology and latest procedures- Sterile Processing Department Leadership- Provides overall leadership by developing goals and objectives aligning with organizational values- Oversees policy development affecting sterilization processes of perioperative and clinic areas- Prepares, presents, and assesses operating and capital expenditure budgets to ensure requirements are met- Monitors and establishes processes to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies- Goals and Objectives:- Develops goals for Sterile Processing based on Perioperative and Procedural Services policies- Implements plans to establish priorities and achieve short and long-term goals- Ensures department supports the vision of the hospital and medical center- Policy and Procedure Development:- Initiates changes or develops new policies, procedures, and methods based on AAMI standards- Analyzes long-range impact of decisions and plans
Operational Effectiveness:- Ensures effective operations through program development, process improvement, and coordination with other departments- Reviews and supports other departments on sterile processing issues- Standardizes services, processes, resources, and practices for quality and efficiency- Adjusts schedules or project priorities to meet emergencies or changing conditions- Committee Representation and Leadership:- Represents Sterile Processing on departmental/interdepartmental committees- Leads and attends intradepartmental leadership meetings- Analyzes and evaluates ongoing programs for improvements
Staffing and Financial Management:- Develops staffing plans to meet operational and administrative needs- Defines and achieves financial targets supporting business goals- Prepares annual operating budget for Sterile Processing and Surgical Instrumentation- Presents and justifies budgets to hospital administration review committee- Evaluates organizational functions and resource allocation- Monitors and reviews department financials; addresses variances and projects future budgets
Service Standards and Customer Satisfaction:- Creates and exceeds service standards based on patient/customer expectations and best practices- Establishes and meets/exceeds service standards compatible with financial targets- Utilizes customer satisfaction and market information to improve stakeholder service and satisfaction- Meets or exceeds national operational benchmarks for Sterile Processing Departments
Minimum Qualifications:- Master's degree required (if in a non-health related field, Bachelor's degree must be in health-related field)- Five years of supervisory/leadership experience in central sterile processing strongly desired- BLS required
