- Master's Degree in Human Services or related field of study and one (1) plus year experience in social work, counseling, or related field preferred; or any combination of training, education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills to successfully perform in this role.
- Active license in LMFT, LMHC or LMSW, or ability to obtain within six months of hire, required.
- Experience working with children and youth in inpatient, residential, or detention facilities, preferred.
- Experience working in an ethical and culturally diverse environment with undocumented children and/or refugees, preferred.
- Have a workable understanding of appropriate theory and methodology in psychology.
- Ability to utilize evidence-based theory to conceptualize clinical cases to formulate treatment plans and related techniques and interventions.
- Experience working with children, youth, and/or families from high-risk backgrounds.
- Be familiar with DSM5, ICD10 assessment and diagnosis.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity to our target population's cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
- Ability to read, write and speak proficiently in both English and Spanish, required.
- Ability to provide proof of, obtain, and/or maintain the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) currently required immunizations (which are subject to change per ORR guidance).
- Conduct intake, admission, and diagnostic assessments, including crisis assessments when needed, with clients, and document results according to Caminos/Residing Hope programs standards to maintain quality assurance standards. Conducts screenings and assessments to identify special needs, developmental, medical, or mental health concerns as well as criminal history, gang involvement, trauma, risk assessments, and/or trafficking-related concerns in accordance with mandated timeframes.
- Responsible for providing youth with individual counseling sessions at least one time weekly, providing additional support as clinically necessary. Provides crisis intervention and supports.
- Responsible for ensuring group counseling sessions are provided in the residential milieu at least twice weekly. Facilitate weekly psycho-educational and therapeutic client groups.
- Continually monitor the mental well-being of clients and arrange for appropriate services as needed, including arranging for and facilitating external specialized services with community providers.
- Provide consultation and documentation regarding clients' functioning, mental health status, and treatment needs.
- Responsible to ensure that Line of Sight and Sound Supervision standards are being met at all times while with youth.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure that interventions and supports are established to modify dysfunctional behaviors and assist the youth to heal and strengthen their internal resources as well as learn socially appropriate skills.
- Works with youth and family/sponsor to establish short-term goals and objectives.
- Provide assistance with the completion of the individual service plan and required assessments within regulatory periods.
- Responsible for developing and implementing clinical interventions designed to assist the youth with acclimating to the Residing Hope and life in the United States.
- Responsible for ensuring the youth are given the support necessary to identify and discuss concerns related to their journey into the United States or life in home country.
- Ensures all assessments and screenings reflect involvement of the youth, family, and potential sponsors as appropriate.
- Evaluate the youth and family's progress towards goal attainment on a designated basis in line with individual treatment and discharge plan goals.
- Maintain effective working relationships with families, youth, colleagues, consultants, and community agencies.
- Active participation in mandatory case review and planning meetings, demonstrating the ability to present an accurate and concise client summary to both internal and external team members.
- Complete required documentation and reports within the defined timelines.
- Ensure assigned case records meet documentation standards both with regards to documentation in the required agency, state, and federal databases and with regards to the client case file.
- Act in the capacity as Clinician on Call.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and familiarity with both Residing Hope and Office of Refugee Resettlement Policy and Procedures relating to the care and supervision of Unaccompanied Children. This includes knowledge of legal background and authority governing the practice as related to working with Unaccompanied Children.
- Is responsive to staff and residents when there is a need for crisis counseling.
- Perform all other job duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
