Why the Childrens Home? * Competitive insurance plans, including health, dental, vision, life insurances, and more * Work life balance, including flexible scheduling, generous paid time off plans and ten paid holidays per year * Retirement benefits with up to a 5% contribution match * Educational tuition reimbursement and certification incentives * Incredible training opportunities * Discounted tuition rates to our onsite Montessori school What You Need * Associates Degree in Nursing or related field of study and three (3) plus years experience in Pediatric medicine preferred; or any combination of training, education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills to successfully perform in this role. * Active Florida Registered Nurse license, required. * Strong knowledge of medication administration with knowledge of medications and their use, drug reactions, and methods of administrations. * Ability to understand medical abbreviations, terminology, and military time. * Basic computer proficiency to include MS Word, Excel, and Outlook. * Must exhibit ability to interact positively with a caring, nurturing, professional attitude. * Must be flexible and able to multi-task under pressure and deadlines. * Ability to plan, implement, and track multiple patients information effectively. * Demonstrate a willingness and ability to learn and evolve with changes in the organization and in health care. * Ability to maintain sensitivity to our target populations cultural and socioeconomic characteristics. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Ensure all Caminos residents receive quality and timely medical care in accordance with state and federal regulations. * Serve as on-call for medical incidents. * Seek guidance from and maintain consistent communication with medical personnel at the Office of Refugee Resettlement pertaining to the ongoing medical needs of youth in the program. * Ensure that Treatment Authorization Requests are obtained for all needed appointments and procedures. * Maintain collaborative relationships with personnel at the designated health management organization, Point Comfort Underwriters, to ensure that youth in the program have access to a full complement of medical providers and services needed. * Demonstrates knowledge of and familiarity with Residing Hope and Everstand/Office of Refugee Resettlement Policy and Procedures relating to the care and supervision of Unaccompanied Children. This includes knowledge of legal background and authority governing the practice as related to working with Unaccompanied Children. * Assist in arranging and communicating all in house and outpatient medical appointments/services to include: hospital emergencies and/or admissions, medical appointments, laboratory services, vaccine clinics, x-rays, and ultrasounds. * Responsible for developing, maintaining and overseeing working relationships with community providers to ensure all medical appointments and follow- up recommendations are documented, monitored and reported according to state and federal standards. * Schedule appointments, accompany youth on specialty medical appointments, and communicate providers questions/concerns to ensure accuracy and patient safety. * Produce daily resident appointment list and ensure all staff are aware via email and hard copies in staff mailboxes. * Audit, track, and schedule required physical, vision, and dental appointments. * Update and file patient medical records, including retrieval and copies of medical records necessary for staff reports and outpatient services. * Assist as needed with inventory and maintenance of all administrative and medical supplies and medications. * Ensure completeness of documentation of medical services provided to clients as required in federal and state databases, including the completion and submission of medical serious incident reports. * Maintain requirements for State certification to administer medications as necessary. * Manage medication administration consisting of: observing the youth for changes in physical conditions and/or behaviors, reporting these observations to the Delegating Registered Nurse as soon as possible, receiving the prescribed medication, storing the medication safely, ensuring medications are taken, recording information promptly and correctly on appropriate forms. * Report medical emergencies immediately to designated personnel. * Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent health information to assure youths rights are protected in adherence to HIPAA of Privacy and Security. * Advocate on behalf of the youths best interest and collaborate with their treatment team to ensure their health and safety. * Demonstrates an understanding of the value of cultural diversity, including the ability to be responsive to the cultural needs of the client population served. * Perform all other job duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
