Career Opportunity: As a Mill Engineering Development Program Participant, you are responsible for providing technical expertise and support for various departments of the organization. You will be involved in managing technical projects aimed at product and process problem solving and/or improvements, cost reduction, and profitability improvement. Provide technical assistance to the operating departments to help them achieve the mill\u2019s goals and objectives. Activities may involve various branches of the engineering profession, for example: electrical, environmental, mechanical, chemical, reliability, or maintenance engineering. This program consists of learning the front and back of the mill where you work. Designed to explore different engineering functions and aspects, preparing you for future roles. How you will impact Smurfit Westrock: Design, construct, test and operate equipment, ensuring standards of quality, cost safety, reliability, timeliness and performance are met in production process, interpreting plans, drawings and specification. Assist in troubleshooting problems and teaching others how to react Assist in the planning and completion of production projects Administratively track any trials, changes and continual production information Assist in organizing and implementing any changes or trials Make daily checks of production output and contributing factors Promote daily safety communications while helping ensure a clean environment Responding to customer complaints offering corrective actions Maintain communications with customers while helping correct problems What you need to succeed: Bachelor\u2019s degree (BS) from four-year college or university in engineering Critical Skills / Capabilities: Analytical: Demonstrates a general understanding of various sources of information or data that are relevant to the business; summarizes or integrates information for routine problems or issues with oversight from others as necessary Detail-Oriented: Has an eye for recognizing errors or differences; plans and completes work with thoroughness, giving attention to specific information and individual details, conditions, necessary record keeping, and elements of that work Time Management: Plans,\u202Fprioritizes, and manages time spent on accomplishing tasks to increase productivity and efficiency; demonstrates awareness and control over amount of time spent on activities; meets deadlines Communication: Clearly exchanges thoughts, ideas, and messages through written, verbal, and non-verbal methods that promote an understanding with the target audience; listens carefully and attentively Adaptability: Demonstrates willingness to relocate anywhere within the United States based on business need, flexibility, and a willingness to modify one\u2019s approach\u202Fto achieve desired results; responds quickly to changing demands, processes, and updated information Organizational Skills: Plans, arranges and/or monitor's work to ensure achievement of desired results; establishes a systematic course of action to accomplish objectives Collaboration: Works effectively with others to complete a task or achieve a common objective; ability to cooperate in both interpersonal and team relationships to foster enthusiasm and maintain mutual trust, candor, and respect for others.
