SUMMARY
We are hiring an Analyst, Business Licenses at our Corporate Office in Birmingham, AL The Analyst, Business Licenses is responsible for managing the business license process for a portfolio of nearly 1,200 stores, working with a 3rd-party provider and across other departments to ensure compliance in all jurisdictions where we operate. The Analyst, Business Licenses is a key member of the corporate accounting function and appropriately applies sound professional judgment and decision-making. This position works with confidential, nonpublic information and ensures efficient and effective business processes are developed and maintained for all areas of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serves as the primary contact for the outsourced business license management program which includes providing information necessary to obtain and renew licenses in a timely manner.
  • Serve as the driving force internally and with our 3rd-party partner in collecting all mandatory documents and signatures and coordinating all inspections required for business license filings.
  • Take full ownership in ensuring we obtain business licenses ahead of new store openings and meet all filing deadlines for annual business license renewals.
  • Build and maintain ad hoc reports to ensure completeness of business license filings and provide visibility into filing deadlines for all jurisdictions where we have business licenses.
  • Participate in system implementations and upgrades, including user acceptance testing and data validation. Participates in business process modernization initiatives to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure that primary internal control activities related to area of responsibility are performed on a timely basis with adequate documentation and proper separation of duties.
  • Participates in process to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC and other regulatory requirements, and all federal, state, and local legal requirements. Maintains current knowledge of applicable standards, regulations, etc. Advises management on needed actions.
  • Protects the company's assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.
  • Perform other ad hoc tasks and projects as assigned by management.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • 1-3 years of experience in Business License Processing preferred.
  • Retail or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Has strong professional communication skills, and the ability to be a team player.
  • Ability to apply analytics to the payables business process to problem solve. Proactive approach to executing job responsibilities.
  • Ability to independently research and investigate problems and identify trends and patterns.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel. Ability to create analytics and exception reports.
