Job Description

Primary Purpose

The Cybersecurity Specialist– Threat Intelligence is part of a broader cybersecurity team that responsible for all system design, implementation, and standards protect Sempra's network from cyber-attacks. The Threat Intelligence Specialist provides solutions to cyber threats and malware and provides recommendation based on the level of threat to inform cybersecurity business decisions. This individual will need to recognize cybersecurity risks and may provide solution recommendations in support of the organization, what assets need to be protected and how to prioritize threats to focus their efforts on what's most important.

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Analysis Delivery

  • Develops solutions and processes to address predicted trends in cybercrime based on current activity
  • Responsible for creating descriptions of threats in layman’s terms to stakeholders and executives
  • Validates the level of threat something or someone poses
  • Conducts digital forensics on complex threats and issues
Communication Stakeholder Management
  • Responsible for actionable cyber intelligence following the Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence Lifecycle framework.
  • Understands the current threat landscape including the implications of geopolitical events on the network.
  • Tracks and maintains advanced persistent threats (APT) and their tools, techniques, and procedures (TTPs)
  • Maintains open-source, classified, and internal threat intelligence artifacts to provide context and informed recommendations for the larger security team
  • Responsible for developing actionable cyber intelligence following the Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence Lifecycle framework.
  • Provides solution recommendations in support of the organization as needed
Functional Area Leadership
  • Provides Intelligence support across the company
  • Researches external sources and peers’ information on threats and vulnerabilities
  • Responsible for the upskilling of other analysts and provides guidance as needed
Troubleshooting
  • Develops intelligence-driven deliverables to brief stakeholders on any relevant tactical and strategic developments that could impact the business
  • Responsible for process improvement of the cyber threat intelligence program to meet the growing needs of Sempra Infrastructure’s dynamic mission.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degreein Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of experience working in Information security, Cybersecurity, or relevant roles.
  • 2+ years of experience managing Governance, Risk, and Compliance of an organization with a complex Information Technology environment
  • 2+ years of previous experience in cybersecurity operations.
  • Experience reviewing/analyzing external cyber threats
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills (writing reports and presenting finding is a large part of this role)
  • Proven ability to present findings and conclusions clearly and concisely to all levels of staff, management and/or vendors
  • Working knowledge and experience in Intelligence Analysis (Military/Law Enforcement)
  • SANS FOR578: Cyber Threat Intelligence Training or equivalent experience working with Threat Intel tools such as Recorded Future and Dragos Worldview
  • Experience creating intelligence reports
Preferred Qualifications
  • Standard certifications in Information Security (SSCP, CISSP, CISM, GIAC, EC-Council) and/or vendor-specific certifications.
  • Technical certifications (Threat Intel e.g. ISACA CRISC).
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
