Water Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Water Engineer to join our mining consulting team. The Water Engineer will be responsible for managing all aspects of water usage, treatment, and discharge within our mining sites. This role involves ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, designing and implementing water management systems, and optimizing water usage to support sustainable mining practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Water Management Planning:
- Develop and implement comprehensive water management plans for mining operations.
- Conduct hydrological and hydrogeological assessments to understand water sources, flow, and quality.
- Design and oversee the construction of water infrastructure, including storage, distribution, and treatment systems.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all water management activities comply with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Prepare and submit necessary permits and reports to regulatory agencies.
- Monitor water quality and quantity to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
- Water Treatment and Quality Control:
- Design and operate water treatment systems to meet regulatory standards and operational needs.
- Implement monitoring programs to assess water quality and effectiveness of treatment processes.
- Troubleshoot and optimize treatment processes to ensure efficient operation.
- Sustainability and Resource Optimization:
- Develop strategies to minimize water usage and recycle water within mining operations.
- Collaborate with environmental and sustainability teams to achieve water conservation goals.
- Assess and implement new technologies and practices for sustainable water management.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret water-related data to support decision-making.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of water usage, treatment processes, and compliance activities.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in water management, preferably within the mining industry.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state water regulations and permitting processes.
- Proficiency in water modeling software and GIS applications.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
