POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting the IS Education Educator and Nursing Education in the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of Sky Lakes Medical Center's Information Systems healthcare informatics education programs. Reports to the Director of Information Systems and the Director of Nursing Education.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Two-three years of healthcare related experience or equivalent level of training/experience; familiar with healthcare operational workflows; ability to organize work and attend to detail; and an ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and multiple schedules. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

Preferred: Experience working with Epic Information Systems and Epic's Credential Training Program; knowledge of applicable healthcare workflows.

Medium physical demands capability required. Ability to lift ten pounds. Able to work within time constraints; high stress situations and multiple tasks; ability to maintain a professional appearance; be courteous to co-workers and patient/family. Participate and promote teamwork.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Assists the IS Education Coordinator and the Department of Nursing Education in the development, coordination, implementation, on-going maintenance and evaluation of the comprehensive informatics training/education program.
  • Works collaboratively and in concert in establishing and documenting the training/classroom schedule and curricula with directors, the Learning Resources Center and Nursing Education.
  • Assists with periodic assessments of relevant classes based on upgrades/version(s) of each information system and collaborates these changes/updates with the IS Education Coordinator, Directors, Principal Trainer (PT's), Certified Trainers (CT's), Key Users (KU's), course catalogues, training/re-training schedules and documentation of such changes/updates.
  • Understands the process and posts approved Tip Sheet's for end user access.
  • Coordinates with the IS Education Coordinator and Directors, PT's, CT's and KU's for the management of training schedules, documentation of competency/education of PT's, CT's and KU's, backup resources for PT/CT/KU vacancy's and working with PT's, CT's and KU's in maintaining up-to-date course catalogues and teaching material/exercises.
  • Plans with the IS Education Coordinator, Directors and schedules the availability of PT's, CT's and KU's for Upgrades and involvement in Planned and Unplanned Downtimes. Assists with policy and procedure transcription, logistics preparation for training and coordinates and documents communication with the Learning Resources Center and Nursing Education
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of clerical documentation/functions in supporting both the IS Education Coordinator and Nursing Education for Epic and other third party information systems as required.
  • Provides back-up support for the IS Education Coordinator as needed.
  • Consistently demonstrates both professional self-directed and guided approaches to cooperative relationships throughout the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with peers, physicians, office staff, and other departments; maintains effective working relationships with coworkers, directors, physicians, and physician office staff.
  • Ability to adapt to change rapidly; ability to prioritize activities and be able to follow directions.
