Job Title: LPN Corrections Job Specialty: Licensed Practical Nurse - Corrections Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights; 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of one year of LPN experience in corrections License: Current unencumbered LPN License Certifications: BLS through AHA Must-Have: Ability to work in a corrections environment, meeting all physical demands and conditions listed Job Description: - Assist in the assessment of the physical, psychological, and social dimensions of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.- Aid in planning individualized treatment programs using available resources and consult with RN staff and other professionals.- Implement treatment plans as directed by the Health Care Practitioner.- Count controlled substances, syringes, needles, and sharps with another staff member at the beginning of each shift and sign count logs.- Apply clinical and technical care aspects according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.- Respond to medical and health emergencies following standard guidelines.- Administer medications according to proper techniques and procedures, including IV therapy and other approved routes.- Obtain diagnostic tests and specimens in line with Health Care Practitioner orders and protocols.- Assist in medical or minor surgical procedures as necessary to meet patient needs.- Implement nutrition and therapeutic diet plans as ordered.- Document nursing encounters using the SOAP form of charting.- Communicate pertinent information to nursing staff, physicians, health care supervisory personnel, and other required staff members.- Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.- Work independently in a correctional facility environment with exposure to potential risks, adhering strictly to security and safety regulations. Physical Demands and Conditions: - Function in a well-lit environment with temperature fluctuations.- Engage in substantial periods of work using a computer, monitor, keyboard, and mouse.- Lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds.- Push and pull equipment and supplies weighing up to 75 pounds.- Walk, stand, and occasionally negotiate stairs and bend frequently.- Possess visual acuity and manual dexterity for operating equipment.- Work involves potential exposure to blood, body substances, and hazardous materials, requiring adherence to standard precautions.(Note: Ensure compliance with the job preferences and expectations, focusing on ensuring a secure and supportive work environment.)
