This job assignment receives administrative direction from the High School Principal, Assistant Principal (Director of Athletics), Activities Director/Coordinator or other administrator as assigned.

Summary of Assignment
Club and activities sponsors are in charge of planning, organizing and supervising activities conducted under the auspices of the district which primarily involve students in other than classroom situations. The purpose of the student activities program is four-fold:
1. Contribute to the development of leadership, social well-being, self-realization and good citizenship
2. Contribute to the mental, physical and moral growth of students
3. Provide an outlet for student interest and abilities
4. Provide an opportunity for all students to be a part of the Round Lake family

Minimum Education and Experience
  1. Valid Illinois Driver's License;
  2. Successful completion of a Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance;
  3. Successful completion of Bloodborne Pathogens Training/Hepatitis B Shots Series Training;
  4. May be required to obtain First Aid/CPR Certification.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  1. Knowledge of the District's Goals of an Activities Program.
  2. Knowledge of sponsor techniques and human behavior;
  3. Knowledge of the State, Federal and School Board Policies and Regulations regarding student conduct and appropriate disciplinary action;
  4. Knowledge of care and treatment of injuries;
  5. Skill at coaching/teaching;
  6. Physical ability to perform essential functions;
  7. Availability to work during assigned hours;
  8. Coaching/teaching ability;
  9. Leadership ability;
  10. Ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Essential Functions
The following identifies the primary and essential functions of the assignment and is not intended to be an exhaustive listing of all duties.
  1. Meet with clubs a minimum of one time per week for the duration of the school year.
    1. Seasonal, competitive activities (i.e. Math Team) will only meet during their assigned season.
  2. Maintains an active program that promotes good sportsmanship and student development;
  3. Plans necessary time, resources, and materials to support accomplishment of club goals;
  4. Assists operations by ensuring preparation of facilities;
  5. Assists in overseeing process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all equipment;
  6. Assists in coordinating the use of all facilities by non-school groups;
  7. Implements District student management policies, communicates expected student behavior related to activities, and ensures enforcement of student discipline in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook;
  8. Establishes and maintains open lines of communication by conducting conferences on vital issues with parents, students, and teachers;
  9. Implements the policies established by federal law, state law, Illinois State Board of Education rules, and local board policy in area of athletics;
  10. Compiles, maintains, files, and presents all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required;
  11. Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment and recommends disposal and replacement of equipment when necessary;
  12. Articulates the District's mission and goals in the area of activities to community and solicit its support in realizing mission;
  13. Demonstrates awareness of District and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs;
  14. Uses appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement;
  15. Supports any booster organization related to clubs and activities;
  16. Performs related duties as assigned.


Physical and Mental Requirements
Individuals appointed to these assignments must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties of the assignment.
