What we need 

We are looking for an Advanced Manufacturing Test Engineer to join our Manufacturing Test team within our System Test organization. Your job will be to develop testing strategies, methods, and machinery in support of our mobile robots. You will establish unique and innovative designs that will be used to simulate and measure robot performance. In this role you will become a subject matter expert on testing solutions and work closely with our contract manufacturers, suppliers, Quality, Hardware Engineering and Customer Operations teams. 

What we do 

The Manufacturing Test team is part of the System Test organization and is responsible for verifying that Symbotic's products are built by our manufacturing partners and suppliers according to specifications and the highest standards of quality. Our group plans, develops, and implements manufacturing test solutions for our mobile robots across a global supply base that includes new production, spares, and repair. 

What you’ll do 

  • Participate in the development of integration and functional test plans. 
  • Provide internal/external communications on test results, reports, and issue tracking to keep management and engineering teams informed. 
  • Drive daily testing activities during on-site test phases. 
  • Participate in the defect management process of hardware and Software issues. 
  • Create, prioritize, and track defect tickets to closure. 
  • Continuous improvement on overall system integration test strategies and test plans. 
  • Assist with operation and debugging Symbotic automated warehouse test system.
  • Assist with setup and execution of test cases using Test Rail, JIRA and SharePoint.
  • Ensure daily safety compliance with OSHA and Symbotic processes and procedures.
  • Run and debug PLC-based or other automation equipment via HMI command line interface.
  • Navigation of both Linux and Windows access system software to collect log & debug files.
  • Represent ITC System Test Engineering Team in cross functional meetings with development team.
  • Travel to customer sites up to 20%. 

What you’ll need ​

  • BS in Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience testing products with a high degree of hardware and software complexity, preferably in the robotics or automation industries.
  • Experience working in SQA (Software Quality Assurance) or test organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to transform complex test data into informative conclusions.
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to handle multiple tasks with nominal direction.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel, SQL, Windows, Linux.
  • Write SQL queries to meet data needs.
  • Ability to write scripts in Python, Linux, C, C++
  • Basic networking skills such understanding and locating IP /MAC addresses, SSH into machines, etc.
  • Outstanding organizational and communication skills.

Our Environment  

  • Up to 20% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations. 

  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed on a bi-weekly basis.
