Job Title: Clinical Nurse

Shift: Day Shift, 7AM-7:30PM Every Other Weekend (EOW) Required
Guaranteed Hours: 34.5
Experience: Minimum 2 years of Stepdown/Med-Surg experience required. 2 years of Cardiology, Telemetry, VAD experience preferred. 1 year travel experience preferred for travel positions.
License: Valid RN License
Certifications: BLS required
Must-Have: BSN is required. EPIC experience is highly preferred.
Job Description:
- Provide safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others.
- Deliver patient care by incorporating the tenets of Relationship Centered Care, based on evidence-based practice and approved nursing standards.
- Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking in patient care management.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate the plan of care.
- Prioritize all aspects of patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, and planning after hospital care, delegating as appropriate.
- Educate patients and caregivers, anticipating needs and readiness to learn, about their care plan, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, family, and all healthcare team members.
- Manage assignments within the Care Delivery Model of Modified Primary Nursing, effectively allocating material resources.
- Role model Relationship Centered Care through facilitation of actions like Admission Welcome, Bedside Shift Report, and Medication Review.
- Consider patients' values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in all care aspects.
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Use evidence-based practices to increase understanding of patients' care perceptions.
- Initiate service recovery for patients and family concerns, escalating as needed.
- Demonstrate caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening through dialogue and actions.
- Conduct Purposeful Hourly Rounding on assigned patients, addressing the 4 Ps.
- Practice safe, efficient, patient-centered care, identifying and escalating opportunities for improvement.
- Demonstrate clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety for the patient population served.
- Implement process improvement strategies based on institutional evidence-based procedures.
- Engage in formal and informal peer and institutional review processes.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to create and implement quality improvement projects and nursing research studies.
- Contribute to quality and safety practices and required compliance measures.
- Implement high reliability principles to avoid high-risk behaviors, providing a safe patient environment.
- Escalate safety hazards following institutional chain of command.
- Utilize institutional information technology, documenting nursing practice to support quality and performance improvement.
- Perform charge nurse duties as assigned, coordinating with the Clinical Coordinator.
- Ensure supplies are appropriately utilized and inventory is sufficient for patient care.
- Escalate material or staffing resource deficits as necessary.
- Demonstrate patient-focused and cost-effective care approaches in terms of equipment and resources.
- Document in an accurate manner in compliance with hospital, regulatory, and legal standards.
- Facilitate patient throughput on a shift basis.
- Contribute to the environment of care, supporting clinical colleagues, patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Advance clinical competence in nursing practice.
- Project a professional image, communicating with respect, compassion, and empathy.
- Incorporate ethical principles into patient and family decision-making.
- Encourage and demonstrate a spirit of scholarship, inquiry, life-long learning, and innovation.
- Acquire knowledge and skills relative to role, patient population, and clinical specialty needs.
- Participate in shared decision-making through specialty practice councils and unit initiatives.
