The Nuclear Medicine PET/CT Technologist prepares and administers dosages of radiopharmaceuticals and contrast media, supplied by manufacturers, to patients in preparation for diagnostic procedures under the direct supervision of the Radiologist and the Lead CT Technologist. The technologist prepares and positions patients for scanning and operates nuclear medicine instruments and imaging equipment, including PET/CT scanner. The technologist is responsible for performing radiation safety and quality control procedures, disposal of radioactive materials, and monitoring work area and patient rooms to ensure that the levels of radioactive materials are in accordance with NRC regulations. May be required to work in other modalities with appropriate licensure.
  • Performs CT and PET/CT examinations of appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site-reading physician.
  • Maintains technical competency through continued education as required by accrediting and licensing bodies.
  • Under guidance and approval of site Radiologist, administers contrast agents and/or radiopharmaceuticals according to site-specific protocols.
  • Completes and signs the Patient Screening form and reviews/explains the procedure and safety precautions to the patient.
  • Calculates, measures, and records radiopharmaceutical dosages received, used, and disposed using computer and following physician's prescription.
  • Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members.
  • Maintains a clean environment.
  • Follows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Cooperates with facility healthcare professionals and complies with facility policies/procedures to maintain occupational radiation exposures ALARA.
  • Complies with all safety policies and regulations including radiation safety.

    • Performs additional duties as required.
**Upon review of performance, sign on bonus of $2,500 gross shall be paid after one year of employment with Imaging Associates.**

Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved school required.
  • Satisfactory completion of formal Nuclear Medicine Technology training in an AMA approved school preferred.
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, ARRT (R) required
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, ARRT (CT) required within 1 year of hire
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology, ARRT (N) or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) preferred.
  • Current BLS certification
  • 2-3 years experience preferred
