DMOS is seeking a Part Time 24 hour employee to work in our Interventional Physiatry clinic. The role will be under direction of the Clinic Manager and allow a person interested in the medical field to learn the basics of clinic operation, patient care, clinic running, gathering patient information and entry of information into a EHR system. This is a great opportunity for a person gathering experience while preparing to enter Medical School or a Mid Level Program.

The Job: This individual is responsible for assisting with patient care in conjunction of a professional medical team. This position is located in West Des Moines and will be scheduled to workMonday, 1:00pm - 5:00pm; Tuesday, 7:45am - 12:30pm; Wednesday, 7:45am - 12:30pm, Thursday 12:30pm - 5:00pm; Friday 7:45am - 1:00pm (although flexibility to swap days due to clinic need is greatly appreciated).
Do I want this job?You will be gaining hands on experience and working within a team of Rad Techs, Physiatrists, Office Staff and Support Staff. You will room patients, gather information and enter information quickly and accurately into an electronic medical record. You may need to respond to physician support requests quickly to assist with patient care.Our patients are hurting, so you are understanding that they may not always be super pleasant, however, they are very grateful. You will work in a place that expects outstanding experiences; we do this by working hard to assume the best and being curious with all around us. You will be naturally curious, friendly and helpful. You can work the hours for this position, because, ultimately, we are all here to help patients.
Can I do this job?You must be able to be on your feet for periods of time that may seem unnatural. For an internship, you must be enrolled or newly graduated from a biology or medically related program. We will train entry level candidates so please don’t be deterred. You have great typing and computer skills. You can think on your feet. You have to be able to use your indoor voice and use confidential information for patient care only. Patient information that gets shared in clinic, stays in clinic.
What does an outstanding intern have in terms of background?Successful candidates in clinic may have had experience in a medical facility. A degree/certificate in the medical field is helpful but not necessary to the role. If you are looking to get experience or are building your career as a NATABOC Certified Athletic Trainer, Medical Assistant, Physical Therapy Tech, Physician, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist or Physician Assistant or comparable professional medical certifications, you are encouraged to apply.
