SUMMARY:

Under the general supervision of the Terminal Manager the Terminal Support Operator provides support functions for the Operations Department. The Terminal receives refined products via barge, ship and pipelines and distributes the refined products through barges, ships, pipelines and truck loading rack.

Desired competencies include: proven skills with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Ideal candidate must be able to establish priorities under tight deadlines and have a proven track record as a motivated, self-starter who can work on multiple projects and priorities within a fast-paced environment. Incumbent is expected to have sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite programs. Prior relevant experience in a refinery, terminal or manufacturing industries are preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. TSO's primary responsibility is the Load rack operations (which includes various tasks below).
  2. Pipeline support - Pipeline product cut ins and cut outs (outside the Terminal).
  3. Pipeline line product sampling (in and outside of the Terminal).
  4. Barge Harbor dock operations support activities (PIC).
  5. Lab confirmation level test support.
  6. Vibration spectrum analysis monitoring.
  7. Fire & Safety equipment inspections in various areas of the facility.
  8. Quarterly Environmental audits (BWON).
  9. Reel gage transfer / delivery tanks prior to starting and after securing transfers.
  10. Sampling of tanker trucks, filters, vessels for water content, and Millipore testing at the load rack. Sample product tanks as required by EOM checklist, JFT, IFT, Email, Cargo Orders, Pumping Orders and routine duties or special audible request.
  11. As needed perform minor equipment maintenance i.e. setting diaphragm pump, setting hoses, light bulb changes, filters, lube oil changes & Twin seal PM checks in facility.
  12. Tracking inventory and refilling aviation fuel additive tanks, totes.
  13. Inventory, ordering and maintain terminal materials and supplies. i.e. PPE, consumables, filters, sample containers, fire and safety equipment etc.
  14. Accountable for maintaining general housekeeping of field control room and assigned work area.
  15. Accountable for the proper upkeep and minor maintenance for assigned work vehicle.
  16. Review and ensures all SROP, IFT, JFT, Email audible directives, and routine duties for the shift are completed.
  17. Perform field verification rounds of assigned operating area within the first 1 hour of start of shift.
  18. Review and utilize all necessary work task procedures, job aids, checklist for job task occurring on their shifts.
  19. Ensure all applicable procedures, checklist, routine duties are completed and have been properly signed off for their respected work shift. No exceptions.
  20. Review and consult terminal head operator/Operations Technical Lead before performing any new or abnormal procedure / transfer line ups/job task.
OTHER DUTIES:
  1. Proactively updates and maintains operating standards, emergency procedures and any other documents as needed.
  2. Teamwork - Works effectively with coworkers and others by sharing ideas in a constructive, positive manner; listening to and objectively considering ideas and suggestions from others; keeping commitments; keeping others informed of work progress and issues; addressing problems and issues constructively to find mutually acceptable and practical solutions; and respecting the diversity of the IES workforce in actions, words, and deeds.
  3. Maintains commitment to a high standard of safety, comply with all safety laws and IES safety policiesules and report actual and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel to further IES core value of safety.
  4. Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience

1. Three to Five years of progressively responsible experience as Terminal Operator. Proven experience in multi-tasking of work projects.

2. High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  2. Proficient Microsoft Office Suite skills, including editing and proofreading.
  3. Ability to maintain automated and manual record keeping systems.
  4. Strong sense of team spirit and ability to transfer it to others.

  12. Quality control-the individual demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.
  13. Adaptability-the individual adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and can deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
  14. Dependability-the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.
  15. Actively support Health, Environment and Safety (HES) processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating procedures and maintaining a safe work environment.
  16. Safety and Security-the individual actively promotes and personally observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.
  17. Confined space entry rescue qualifications or willingness to be trained is highly desirable, but not required.
Other Requirements
  1. Willingness to commit to The Island Way (IES core values of): Kīnā'ole, Aloha, Lōkahi and Ho'ohana
  2. Pass background check including periodic job-related physical abilities testing as required.
  3. This is a safety sensitive position and random drug testing is required.
  4. Valid driver's license with clean abstract.
  5. Willingness to devote the time as needed to meet packet and task deadlines.
  6. Willingness to maintain or increase skills.
  7. Willingness to be flexible with work scheduling depending on DoD fuel demand requirements.
  8. Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) within sixty days of hire.
  9. Obtain DoD DBIDS Contractor badge to access JBPHH and associated DLA facilities within 45 days of hire.
  10. Must be able to meet all physical requirements of the job including climbing stairs and working on top of product storage tanks over 60 feet high, climb multiple tanks per shift, working in confined spaces and lift product hoses and other Terminal equipment.

This is a negotiated union position, and the starting hourly pay rate is $34.67/hour. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Employment is contingent upon successfully passing an employee reference check, drug test, criminal background check and a five-year motor vehicle history check. This is a non-exempt position under FLSA regulations.
