Job Summary:

Conducts standard combustion testing for external customers. Checks in and organizes incoming dust samples. Prepares test samples (sieving, drying, etc.).

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Sets up and runs standard tests per SPIs.
  1. Calibrates basic pressure measurement equipment
  2. Uses Word and Excel to assemble test reports and to compile, reduce and archive test data.
  3. Cleans and maintains test equipment and facilities.
  4. Provides troubleshooting when testing systems.
  5. Receives and logs samples.
  6. Maintains a clean and safe working environment for testing staff, employees, and visitors
  7. Completes all required work order reporting and documentation.
  8. Adheres to safety practices and procedures. Reviews SDS sheets.
  1. Follows procedures as defined by Fike policies, procedures and ISO9001 requirements.


Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

The employee is regularly exposed to hazardous and toxic chemicals as vapors or dust particles while using appropriate personal protective equipment. Employee frequently works with large-scale explosive atmospheres, demonstration/tests that release extreme heat and pressure and around high-pressure containers (>2000psi). The employee works with explosive devices, handles high temperature devices, and is exposed to guarded moving mechanical parts. Occasional exposure to high decibel noise. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand and reach with hands and arms, work in a safety hood; to walk, sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch; lift or move over 100 pounds using appropriate moving devices.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED: High School Diploma or a General Educational Development Diploma (GED). 6 months manufacturing/quality testing experience or 6 months Vo-Tech training in applicable field. Ability to pass the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) background check as well as the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) background check. Good mechanical dexterity. Working knowledge of Microsoft office suite.

PREFERRED: Basic knowledge of electronic, computer hardware and software, and pneumatic systems. Experience in a laboratory, quality control, electronic or mechanical assembly environment.
