Summary Objective

The Service & Start Up Quality Inspector is responsible for supporting production in design, construction, manufacturing, assembly and servicing a range of energy systems including, but not limited to, turbine inlet air chilling, central utility plants, district cooling and combined heat and power solutions. Ensuring that Company activities comply with the Quality Manual, the ISO 9001:2015 standard, the specific requirements of our clients and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Inspect modules and ship loose materials received at site for damage, provide detailed documentation and photos, communicate findings with site team, quality control manager and project management team.
  • Verify site contractor performing all fabrication, assembly, welding to approved client requirements, and applicable code and acceptance criteria.
  • Mechanical/Flanged/Victaulic Joints:
  1. Proper gasket and hardware for application.
  2. Uniform fit up/alignment.
  3. Confirm cross hatch pattern tightening with multiple pass technique for uniform torquing.
  4. Verify use of Loctite or lubricant on all bolts (If required)
  5. Torque Viz (Color) applied to each bolt.
  • Performs inspections/tests required by Inspection and Testing Plan, Quality Procedures, Project Execution Plans, Work Instructions, and inspections/tests outlined by the Quality Plan. Results will be documented on the proper forms and their current revisions, then filed in accordance with Stellar Energy’s documentation and record storage procedures.
  • Verify Documents/Inspections, records maintained shall as a minimum include the following:
  1. Drawings/P&IDs
  2. Checklists/Quality
  3. Coating Inspection
  4. Receiving Inspection
  5. Product Identification
  6. Inspection Date
  7. Inspector Identification
  8. Equipment Installation
  9. Torque Inspection Log
  10. Procedure and revision
  11. Type of Observation (Inspection)
  12. Nonconforming Report
  13. Results or Acceptability
  14. Pressure Test Plan/Testing
  15. Measuring and Test Equipment Identification
  16. Approval, including signature/initials and date of personnel.
  17. Reference to nonconformance actions taken, if applicable
  • Initiates nonconformance reports. Shall ensure all nonconforming material is quarantined or segregated and either reworked, repaired, accepted “as is”, or scrapped based on Nonconformance Report dispositions.
  • Comply with SEA traceability procedure, this could include serial numbers, or identification of POs for critical materials and components used, inspection and testing results.
  • Quality is responsible for checking the final product to ensure all dimensions are within tolerances specified and document results for record.
  • Responsibilities may require sedentary work, including but not limited to computer operation, video review, classroom or online training, job observations/inspections, and peer work review.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This position operates out of a manufacturing facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is sometimes exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This position may require occasional weekend work.

Travel

Minimal travel is 80% expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
  • General knowledge and theory in all NDE methods in accordance with related standards and/or codes.
  • At least 2 years of work experience in quality inspection, should be combined with a demonstrated track-record of accomplishments.
  • Experience in industrial production manufacturing.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Manufacturing / construction experience with general mechanical equipment including pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, etc.
