Position: Capital Sales Engineer Salary Grade: E2

Purpose: Cultivate positive customer relations and successfully close profitable sales with preexisting and potential customers. Prepare precise quotes from customer input and effectively communicate information for accurate product design and fulfillment. Reports to the assistant vice president of sales.

· Know, understand and follow all applicable BOT processes and procedures.

  • Study manufacturing processes and analyze final product proposals from customers to determine what modifications can be made to customer operations and BOT machinery to successfully complete transactions.
  • Field customer questions related to sales via all typical means and provide technical support regarding requisite equipment levels and relay appropriately to internal customers.
  • Effectively represent the company to the market by appearance, product knowledge, and decorum.

  • Engage in presentations globally to inform and educate stakeholders and customers with the goal of closing profitable sales.
  • Reconcile discrepancies between sales quotations and purchase orders through internal and external discussions and gather information to finalize order entries.
  • Show visiting customers Burr Oak Tool’s manufacturing and assembly processes to provide knowledge of company products.
  • Acts as liaison between engineering and customers to provide employees with precise and accurate design information.
  • Coordinate with the Vice President of Sales to determine sales priorities and negotiation parameters.
  • Establish and achieve quarterly and annual booking targets using SMART goals.


· Able to observe and develop workable solutions in a variety of situations and perform root cause analysis.

· Accept responsibility for consistently excellent productivity and quality.

· Organize and conduct concise, timely and logical presentations, discussions, and reports for a variety of stakeholders.

· Participate in regular employee reviews including setting and achieving goals.

Skills: Essential qualifications and functions gained through training and experience

· This position requires the use of a computer; precision measuring instruments; calculator; general office equipment. Familiarity with the Microsoft suite of products is required.

· High school diploma or equivalent. 4-year bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field highly preferred, or equivalent experience.

· Candidate must be willing and able to travel on demand.

· High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities in a high stress level environment.

· Documentation of a drug screen must be provided prior to starting this position.
