Kids' Ministries Outreach Assistant will assist and play an essential role in supporting the Families Minister in the area of kids ministries, from helping to run programs and activities for kids and their families to connect with and maintain relationship with families. The Kids' Outreach Assistant will also work closely with adult and youth volunteers as well as pastoral and church staff to maintain, evolve and grow this special aspect of Grandview church. This role reports to and receives supervision, direction and guidance from the Families Minister. All staff members report to the Lead Pastor and work as part of the entire Grandview staff team. Primary Responsibilities: (12 hours) The Kids Outreach Assistant role includes supplementing and supporting the work of the Families Minister in the following areas: Leads and coordinates the Wednesday After-School Program for grades K-4 from nearby schools, as well as the church kids, including recruiting and supporting volunteers. Serve as the backup leader or helper for kids' educational programs from 9-11, including occasionally leading Children's Message during Sunday morning worship or leading Kids church, Kid-venture, during 9am service. Assist Families Minister with programs and special events such as Camp Grandview (our annual one-week day camp in August), retreats, seasonal festivities, etc. Assist with coordinating the Barnabas' program, which is our new buddy program that provides a one-on-one adult to meet the needs of kids with special needs physically, socially, and emotionally. Requirements: A loving and joyful heart, placing a premium on relationships, open and affirming, collaborative and highly responsible Responsible creative problem-solver who embraces learning opportunities and spiritual renewal Effective verbal communication skills, able to interface well with fellow staff members, families and children. Will seek to remain actively engaged with Grandview Church (e.g.- remaining attuned to church through weekly bulletin, newsletters, as well as attending, whenever possible, services) Safe Sanctuaries Training and Mandated Reporter Training; along with all necessary up-to-date clearances. In addition to checking and confirming volunteers have all their Safe Sanctuaries trainings and clearances completed. Ideally preferred, background and training as well as experience in education and theology especially relevant to Early Childhood and Special Education. Knowledge of Spanish language would be a welcomed benefit. Work Schedule: Grandview Church Position: Kids' Ministries Outreach Assistant The typical weekly schedule in the church building will be: Sundays 8:30-11:30am; Wednesdays, 2:00- 5:30 pm. (preparation/set-up and implementation of the After-School Program and over the summer assisting with). Remaining hours are flexible/or as needed for special events/programs/ministries and additional prep time work out with supervisor. Monthly supervisory check-in and a yearly review with the Families Minister and quarterly Education & Discipleship planning meetings. Vacation time/Time off: Follows current Personnel guidelines for part-time employees.
