About the Job

IT Optos and Integration Support Engineer will report to the Sr. Director of Infrastructure/Sr. Director of Eyecare Operations

  • The IT Optos and Integration Support Engineer position requires extensive travel, work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, and overtime, while minimized, is expected
  • Installation of ophthalmic healthcare equipment, i.e., exam rooms, diagnostic equipment, etc.
  • Conduct training sessions for healthcare professionals on the use of medical device healthcare equipment
  • Configure components, partner with IT for network connectivity
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users
  • Collaborate with training, integration, and practice techs to demonstrate capabilities of the medical device
  • Stay up-to date on industry trends and best practices to ensure effective training programs tailored to the needs of the practice
  • Collect feedback and suggestions from users to improve product performance and user experience to help optimize patient care
  • While not traveling, back up tech support for any possible troubleshooting requests and work the ticket queue
  • Coordinate, schedule, and travel to assigned practices for installation, configuration, training, and/or break/fix.
  • On-site repair/service of ophthalmic exam lane equipment, i.e. exam chairs, instrument stands, tables, etc.
  • Electronic Medical Records integration from ophthalmic pretest equipment, i.e. automatic refraction devices, lensometers, topographers, OCT, Optos, Marco, Oculus, etc.
  • Pretest integration from pretest devices into digital phoropter's via Bluetooth radio devices, Lan connectivity, serial cable, etc.
  • Field Service assessment for repair and/or replacement of equipment
  • Troubleshoot diagnostic errors and equipment malfunctions or connectivity/integration and assist users on operation of devices for optimal results with diagnostic testing
  • Work closely with Senior Manager, OD Equipment
  • Work closely with Senior Director of Eyecare Operations
Requirements
  • This position requires a minimum of 5-8 years of experience in a service rep position
  • AS degree in electronics or equivalent, combined with the above experience level
  • BS Mechanical or Optical Engineering or related curriculum (MS preferred)
  • Medical Devices or related high-precision manufacturing experience requiredTeam player, proficient in reading and interpreting schematics.
  • Experience with installation, configuration, training, troubleshooting, and support of multiple medical device vendors, i.e. Topcon, Zeiss, Optos, Marco, Topo, Fundus, slit lamp, etc.
  • Excellent debugging skills across a variety of integrated platforms
  • Knowledge of networking, including AD, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, load balancers, and IP routing
  • Software (i.e. Zeiss Review, Zeiss Forum, Oculus Keratograph, Optos Advance, etc.)
  • Hardware (i.e. TopCon, Zeiss, Optos, Marco, Topo, etc.)
  • Extensive travel required 70% as required
  • Demonstrated expertise w/ MS Office product (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Project
  • 7+ years relevant industrial experience in medical device metrology development
  • Technical Project management experience
  • Working knowledge of optical and mechanical metrology systems used to measure and manufacturing process of ophthalmic products
  • Proficient in applied statistics
  • Familiar w/ regulated medical device development environment (ISO/FDA)
  • Serve as the technical resource for production operations
  • Develop processes and/or workflows
  • Setup workstations, tools, equipment, and material handling systems
  • Create, review, and approve equipment qualification protocols
  • Perform data analysis, evaluate results, form conclusions
  • Contribute to design, process, or documentation improvements
  • Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting of production equipment
  • Maintain oversight of other facilities/utilities-related activities
  • Identify opportunities for new technology and drive continuous improvement
  • Client Connectivity (Review Station)
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Team interaction and Attention to detail
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license with acceptable driving record and ability to be insured.
Physical Demands
  • This position requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, utilize equipment necessary to perform the job, and move about the office.
  • Ability to work at excess heights.
  • Ability to lift up to 90 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time, climb, kneel, stoop, bend, reach overhead, carry, walk, sit, lie down, pull/push with hands, talk and hear, and remain alert and aware for the duration of the call.
  • Ability to climb ladders, tolerate confined spaces and heights.
  • Ability to work and/or travel in adverse weather conditions.
  • On-site technical testing and assessment may be required.
