Job Title: Lead Azure Architect with .NET Experience

Job Summary: We are seeking a Lead Azure Architect with extensive .NET experience to design, implement, and optimize data solutions within the Microsoft Azure cloud ecosystem. The candidate will work on-site in Richmond, VA, 2-3 days a week, and will be involved in designing cloud infrastructure, cloud-native applications, and migrating existing applications to the cloud. This role requires a strong understanding of security measures to protect data and applications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop, and test .NET solutions within both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Plan and design cloud infrastructure, including computing resources, storage, networking, and security components.
  • Collaborate with various teams to design cloud-native applications and migrate existing applications to Azure.
  • Implement security measures to safeguard data and applications in the cloud.
  • Utilize Angular, Blazor, or similar front-end technologies in development.
  • Apply knowledge of Microservices architecture, Azure Architecture, and Domain-driven architecture.
  • Develop Azure native applications using Azure App Services, Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure Container instances, Kubernetes & Containers (Docker), Azure Integration Services (Logic Apps, API Management, Service Bus & Event Grid), Azure SQL Database, Azure Web Jobs, SQL Server IaaS, Azure Monitoring, and Application Insights.
  • Utilize configuration management and automation technologies such as Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Terraform, Chef, and ARM Templates.
  • Collaborate with architects and senior developers to define software architecture and make design decisions aligned with business needs.
  • Work in an agile methodology environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience in .NET development, including .NET Core, MVC.NET, ASP.NET, C#, Web Services (WCF, Web API), JQuery, T-SQL, PL/SQL.
  • Experience with front-end technologies like Angular or Blazor.
  • Experience with Microservices architecture and Azure architecture.
  • Proficient in Azure native application development and various Azure services.
  • Knowledge of configuration management and automation tools such as Azure DevOps, PowerShell, Terraform, Chef, and ARM Templates.
  • Experience working in agile methodology.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Strong knowledge of hybrid connectivity between Azure and on-premise systems using virtual networks, VPN, and Express Route.
  • Proficient scripting skills in Python.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake.
  • Experience developing Power BI reports.
Additional Information:
  • Local Richmond, VA candidates are strongly preferred.
  • The position requires on-site work up to 3 days a week.
  • The assignment is expected to extend beyond June 30, possibly up to 24 months.
  • Contractors will be responsible for procuring their own parking through VDOT's Parking Management Office.
