As our Administrative Clerk, you will be the friendly face that greets visitors and provides essential support to our team. You will handle a variety of tasks such as complex print jobs and maintain copy center equipment.

About Us

The Maricopa County Office of the Public Defense Services assigns and oversees private attorneys contracted to represent indigent individuals in criminal, delinquency, dependency, mental health, and probate matters. We provide administrative support, financial oversight, integrated technology solutions, and HR support to all five of Maricopa County's Indigent Representation offices (Public Defender, Legal Defender, Legal Advocate, Public Advocate, and Contract Counsel) in an effort to ensure indigent individuals have their fundamental legal rights protected and receive quality legal representation.

We Require

  • Six months of clerical and/or customer service experience

  • High school diploma or GED

  • A combination of related post-secondary education and/or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements on a year-per-year basis

We Also Value

  • Experience in a legal, court, criminal justice, or indigent defense setting

  • Copy center experience

Job Contributions

  • Greet customers, answer telephones, and provide information relative to department procedures and services

  • Retrieve print job requests via intranet, Microsoft Office, in person, thumb drives, and CDs

  • Operate computerized photocopier machines to perform complex, intricate, and routine duplicating duties

  • Use office equipment to assemble, comb bind, count, cut, fold, fax, scan, hole punch, laminate, sort, and staple printed material based on requests

  • Ensure job requests are accurate, compliant, and timely in accordance with work order

  • Maintain copy centers' paper and finishing supplies; order replenishments as needed for inventory

  • Maintain and monitor office equipment, assess equipment error messages, and contact repair personnel as needed

  • Work with Security Services and Indigent representation departments to make and distribute IR ID badges for some positions

  • Run reports upon request

Working Conditions

  • Work is completed in an office setting in close proximity with others, including public contact and requires the ability to stand for long periods of timeand project an effective and professional phone persona

  • Ability to lift, carry, or push 25-35 pounds for 200-300 feet
