Business Analyst
Location: Sleepy Eye, MN (Hybrid 2 days a week)

Position Overview & Responsibilities
The Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for leading the requirements definition process of IT development and software implementation projects and participates through the whole software development (or implementation) life cycle process. Additionally, the BA serves as the primary level-2 support for assigned key business applications. In this capacity, the BA must gain/maintain a deep understanding of the underlying business processes being served by the related software functionality. The BA serves as a liaison between the business user and the technical resource (typically a software developer or implementer). The BA must work cooperatively and actively with both IT and business user resources, always seeking the highest quality and value achievement in each project.

Major Areas of Accountability
  • Gathers and documents requirements for new application functionality, whether custom software or off-the-shelf software configuration.
  • Provides 2nd level end user support for assigned business applications.
  • Documents current and desired business process flows and recommends solutions to fill gaps or to improve the flow and/or efficiency of processes.
  • Creates and maintains software based workflow processes as applicable.
  • Performs basic customizations within the assigned application suites to streamline or extend functionality.
  • Works closely with developers and business users to ensure that developed functionality meets documented requirements.
  • Develops and maintains user documentation including manuals and training materials.
  • Develops and maintains use case documentation for testing purposes.
  • Gathers and documents user suggestions for new features and content for assigned applications.
  • Leads QA/user acceptance testing of assigned applications, including custom applications.
  • Diagnoses application problems, determines root causes and either resolves the issue(s) or passes along to the relevant people that can resolve the issue.
  • Other duties assigned within the scope, responsibility, and requirements of the job.

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum formal education required: Bachelor's degree in an IT related discipline or agricultural discipline or 6+ years of equivalent work experience.
  • Experience creating process maps, gathering business requirements, writing functional specifications, writing user stories, creating test plans and writing test scripts.
  • Clear, concise, and precise written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with people of various backgrounds including non-technical audiences.
  • Strong solution-oriented approach to team problem solving.
  • Ability to multi-task and to prioritize objectives, anticipate situations and take quick action.
  • Computer skills required: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Visio

Additional Desirable Skills/Qualifications
  • Certifications in any of the following are a plus: Business Analysist (IIBA, PMI-PBA, etc.), ITIL.
  • Experience working in an agricultural business, particularly the swine industry.
  • Experience in Business Process Management.
  • Experience in Application Management
  • Experience in Database Management
  • Experience in Level 1 and/or Level 2 user support (Freshservice or similar ITSM tool).
  • Cloud technologies (Public, Private, Dedicated, Hybrid).
  • End user computing devices including Windows, Android, and iOS.
