Schwartz Farms, Inc. was founded in 1978 and at the time was predominantly involved in crop farming. Although Schwartz Farms is still involved in farming, today's primary operations are within the pork industry. Schwartz Farms, Inc. employs over 550 full-time individuals, and owns sows in the upper Midwest, predominantly in Minnesota, Kansas, Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska. We also utilize approximately 300 independent contractors. As a premier pork producer, Schwartz Farms embraces itself for a challenging and rewarding future.

A DAY AS A COMPUTER APPLICATION ANALYST:

As a Computer Application Analyst at Schwartz Farms, Inc., your day-to-day expectations will be both dynamic and engaging. This position is responsible for providing technical and data solutions to support the needs of SFI by applying the appropriate technology to improve processes and improve business decision making. The position is accountable for daily management of assigned business applications, including documentation, ongoing enhancements, interfaces, and technical support to support SFI's applications. The position will collaborate with other team members to research and implement new cloud-based software applications and data hosts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Applications
    • Learn and support current SFI applications, keeping them up to date, and integrating them with other applications, when applicable.
    • Collaborate with other team members and research potential new applications needed to meet business needs and make recommend solutions.
  • Team player
    • Assist and help other team members.
    • Collaborate with Manager and the rest of the team to prioritize job responsibilities and projects.
    • Help resolve issues and propose solutions.
    • Participate in team, office, and company activities.
    • Maintain strong internal and external relationships.
  • Responsible
    • Maintain confidentiality of information and adhere to policies and procedures.
    • Completes assignments and projects on time.
    • Providing a consistent level of service, which is timely, thorough, and responsive.
    • Works under deadlines and can problem solve.
    • Maintaining excellent communications
    • Ensure privacy policies and procedures established by SFI regarding protected confidential information.
    • Advocate and engage in SFI's animal welfare policy, including promoting animal well-being, remedying circumstances which impede animal care, and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE (or equivalent):
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or related field or an equivalent combination of five (5) years of education and experience sufficient to perform the essentials of the position
  • Experience with 3rd level support on database and applications issues
  • Experience with remote user support tools and technology
  • Thrives on working with a wide variety of applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, communication, listening, team building, problem solving, analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Be attentive to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Be detail-oriented; able to multi-task and work independently.
  • Ability to translate highly technical information into nontechnical terms.
  • Ability to create and maintain technical documentation of complex systems.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Active Directory
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP, Acumatica, or other ERP software
  • Knowledge and experience in industry security best practices and controls
  • Ability to program in languages such as C#, VB, Java etc., technical certifications, if applicable
  • Technical proficiency regarding database design development, data models, , and segmentation.
  • Experience in creating reports using SSRS, Crystal or other related reporting packages.
  • Knowledge and experience with data driven web and mobile application development, such as Mobile Frame
  • Knowledge and experience with database administration and maintenance on SQL Server, Oracle or another relational database
  • Knowledge of software such as , Jet Reporting, Power BI, Hive, Zoho Analytics, Qlik
  • Knowledge of API processing and JSON (Java Script Object Notation)
  • Experience with other agricultural software systems, such as Meta Farms, Prairie Systems, Porcitec, Vertical or Easy Automation

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT:

Position may involve travel and non-standard business hours. The position can be a hybrid position; to be agreed upon with your team leader.
