EFC International is seeking an experienced and dynamic Outside Sales Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for selling fasteners and specialty engineered components to Automotive and Industrial OEMs as well as other distributors. Your primary duties will include building and maintaining customer relationships, identifying sales opportunities, providing technical support, and achieving sales targets within the assigned territory. This position's territory covers Ohio, Indiana, and western Pennsylvania.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Travel throughout the assigned territory to engage with regular and prospective customers, whether through in-person visits, phone calls, or on-site discussions.
  • Conduct strategic account reviews with all assigned customers regularly to assess their needs and align services or products with agreed business goals.
  • Develop and nurture strong relationships with key decision-makers and users within customer organizations, spanning various departments including purchasing, engineering, management, manufacturing, scheduling/logistics, and quality.
  • Compile lists of prospective customers and actively reach out to them to generate sales leads.
  • Demonstrate product features using samples or catalogs, highlighting salable features.
  • Provide technical product support to customers and introduce engineered product solutions into their applications.
  • Stay knowledgeable about the features and benefits of key products and product lines.
  • Design new or modified fastener concepts and products to meet application requirements and provide engineering solutions for customers.
  • Analyze and assess the benefits and technical feasibility of concepts and products.
  • Collaborate with customers and suppliers to test and trial products in application settings through simulation or prototype builds.
  • Interact with Product Management, Purchasing, and Quality departments to support assembly projects, cost initiatives, and quality concerns.
  • Quote prices and credit terms, working closely with inside sales partners.
  • Utilize EFC's CRM system and SAP system as necessary.
  • Prepare reports of business transactions, expense accounts, and status updates on activities, closings, follow-ups, and adherence to goals.
  • Work with inside sales representatives to maintain account activities and literature up to date.
  • Track inventory levels and coordinate customer training.
  • Attend trade shows and adhere to EFC policies, guidelines, processes, work instructions, and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business, professional, technical, or governmental documents.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products and Contact Management systems.
  • Ability to read technical drawings.
  • Strong mathematical abilities including understanding concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Excellent reasoning ability to solve practical problems and interpret various instructions.
  • Moderate to extensive travel required, including significant amounts of driving and frequent flying.
