The following are specific responsibilities and contributions critical to the successful performance of the position:

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain HVAC, air quality control, and refrigeration equipment (e.g., boilers, chillers, and air handling units/controls).
  • Carry out minor Plumbing & Mechanical works for HVAC systems & Equipment, as required
  • Monitor and inspect HVAC Plant/Equipment, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, safety devices, and meters to detect leaks or malfunctions, and to ensure that equipment is operating efficiently and safely
  • Maintain engineering area is safe, kept clean and in an orderly manner. Keep close coordination with other engineering staff for smooth operation.
HVAC Equipment Experience:
  • PTAC A/C Units, VTAC A/C Units, Water Source Heat Pump, Make Up Air A/C Roof Top Unit, Fresh Air A/C Units, and Split A/C Units
Refrigeration Equipment Experience:
  • Reach in commercial refrigerators
  • Reach in commercial freezers
  • Walk in freezer and coolers
  • Beer coolers
  • Ice Machines
Other Equipment Experience:
  • Chiller systems, cooling tower and pumps
  • Boiler systems
  • Water Heaters
Skills and Knowledge:
  • Ability to Read and follow blueprints / schematics
  • Ability to assemble, install, test and troubleshoot HVAC equipment
  • Good understanding of HVAC Code (both local and ASHRAE)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HVAC Tools and Instrumentation
  • Knowledge of Lock/Tag Out Protocol, OSHA and other HVAC safety procedures
  • Understanding of maintenance inventory and requisition of parts and supplies as needed.
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and co-workers
Qualifications
  • At least 3 years of HVAC experience, required.
  • Minimum Technical, Trade or Vocational Certificate/Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must be able to travel occasionally to Raleigh or Columbia, SC.

JOB SETTING AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Employees in this position work both indoors and outdoors. To perform the job successfully, the candidate must be able to see differences between colors, shades, and brightness, hear sounds and recognize the difference between them, focus on one source of sound and ignore others, use fingers to grasp, move, or assemble very small objects, make quick, precise adjustments to machine controls, determine the distance between objects, adjust body movements or equipment controls to keep pace with speed changes of moving objects. Fluency in the English language and the ability to speak, hear, read and write are required as is the ability to work any hours/days of the week necessary to meet business requirements.
