Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of anatomy and physiology, along with experience in developing and implementing care plans tailored to meet the needs of diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Assess patients' physical, cognitive, and emotional abilities to determine areas of improvement
  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs
  • Implement therapeutic activities and interventions to enhance patients' daily living skills
  • Educate patients and their families on coping strategies and assistive devices
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary
  • Document patient evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes
  • Advocate for patient needs in various settings such as schools or workplaces
  • Provide guidance and support to patients transitioning back to daily activities
  • Conduct home or workplace assessments to recommend modifications
  • Stay updated on the latest research and advancements in occupational therapy

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
  • State licensure to practice as an Occupational Therapist
  • Certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
  • At least two years of experience working as an OT
  • Experience in geriatrics or neurological conditions
  • Familiarity with the latest therapeutic techniques and interventions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • Strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and psychology
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care
  • Ability to develop and implement customized treatment plans
  • Review patients’ medical history, ask the patients questions, and observe them doing tasks
  • Evaluate a patient’s condition and needs
  • Develop a treatment plan for patients, identifying specific goals and the types of activities that will be used to help the patient work toward those goals
  • Help people with various disabilities perform different tasks, such as teaching a stroke victim how to get dressed
  • Demonstrate exercises—for example, stretching the joints for arthritis relief—that can help relieve pain in people with chronic conditions
  • Evaluate a patient’s home or workplace and, on the basis of the patient’s health needs, identify potential improvements, such as labeling kitchen cabinets for an older person with poor memory
  • Educate a patient’s family and employer about how to accommodate and care for the patient
  • Recommend special equipment, such as wheelchairs and eating aids, and instruct patients on how to use that equipment
  • Assess and record patients’ activities and progress for patient evaluations, for billing, and for reporting to physicians and other healthcare providers
