In this role, the Physical Therapist II - Pediatric Therapist performs advanced/specialized physical therapy services/procedures and consultations, primarily in area of advanced clinical competency and/or specialty certification. The PT II. develops clinical programs within area of expertise and provides training to other staff and students.
Essential Job Functions:
- Evaluates patients utilizing the advanced/specialized test and measurements; to determine the physical therapy problem/level of function and the expected discharge environment.
- Promotes and has knowledge of and utilizes appropriate patient care protocol relating to the physical, psychosocial, and developmental needs of neonatal and pediatric patients.
- Establishes a treatment plan based upon the evaluation findings; and the patient/family, the referring practitioner, and therapist's goals.
- Performs advanced/specialized physical therapy techniques and procedures.
- Treats patients with complex problems ie. co-morbidities and/or poor previous out-comes; consults on difficult cases for staff and referring practitioners.
- Documents findings; patient progress; and procedures performed, and time required.
- Instructs patient/families in home programs.
- Demonstrates effective time management; achieves designated productivity standard.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited physical therapy school with Bachelors or Master's or DPT degree or verification by the APTA of equivalent training in another country.
- Current physical therapy license in the State of Illinois.
- Basic Life Support Certification.
