Job Summary:

The Environmental Technician position is primarily responsible for supporting the air, environmental, and operations teams for regulatory compliance reporting at both the federal and state level. This position will be instrumental in summarizing and delivering air emissions data to the company to drive improvement opportunities, as well as assisting with other environmental programs within our areas of operations. This role will report to the Environmental and Air Manager within the Regulatory department at our corporate headquarters.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Operational field data management, collecting and reporting gathered data from methane emissions monitoring, Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions, LDAR programs, emissions event reporting, routine inspections etc.
  • Scheduling and tracking LDAR inspections while gathering and summarizing associated data
  • Facilitate SPCC Program including but not limited to; requesting and tracking of new plans, amendments, 5-year reviews, inspection compliance, and remediation
  • Prepare and/or submit various regulatory reports/notices, including but not limited to; annual Tier 2 chemical inventory reports, OOOOb completions notices, EPCRA notices, engine test notices, etc.
  • Facilitate environmental clearance reviews for proposed new sites and pre-drill baseline water sampling program
  • Assist with Gas Certification Program requirements
  • Assist with engine testing and compliance, scheduling tests, obtaining reports, etc.
  • Assists with equipment tracking/database and helps coordinate periodic inventory requirements
  • Works with spreadsheets, databases, and data warehouses to streamline available data into central viewpoint
  • Periodically attends field EHS audits, inspections, engine testing, LDAR inspections, etc.
  • Assist with sampling requirements, including coordinating H2S sampling, oil and gas samples for extended analysis, etc.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Effective communicator at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries and governmental agencies
  • Skilled in database management with sound analytical and diagnostic skills where information is available but must be analyzed
  • Ability to proficiently schedule, coordinate, plan and monitor multiple projects simultaneously
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Initiative to work independently, but also effective in a team setting
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, government agencies and the general public
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge and ability to run queries against data using SQL and Power BI (or similar tools)
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in environmental science, engineering, computer science or related fields
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with a strong safety and environmental background is preferred
  • Experience in gathering, analyzing, and summarizing data for broad distribution or for use in determining how to focus resources
  • Experience implementing environmental programs to achieve established goals


Work Environment:

This job operates in both a professional office environment and a field environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, iPads, iPhones, laptop computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This job also operates in a field environment with various equipment, dust, debris, and varying weather conditions.

Physical Demands

Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Ability to drive for long periods of time, walk and/or stand for long periods of time, perform work in all types of weather conditions.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salaried position. Days and hours of work will vary due to workload/needs of the company.

Occasional local and out of town travel is expected for this position.
