PROGRAM ENGINEER
Program Engineer is responsible for the Customer assigned program. Primary responsibility is to manage all aspects of the relationship between the customer design and engineering team and the PKC production plant(s). Incumbent will be responsible for receiving designs from the customer and setting the part(s) up in the PKC system. Will be responsible to work with the customer to resolve any issues found with the design and work to get corrected documentation for PKC to build the harness correctly. Will be responsible for tracking all new feature launches for assigned customer platform to ensure they are implemented on time and in budget.
Your tasks.
- Daily communication with customer engineering team.
- Must be able to read customer harness drawings to help resolve issues as they arise.
- Responsible for leading the PKC plant through new project launches. Creating and maintaining timing plans and holding weekly meetings to review program status.
- Manage the customer relationship with the objective of remaining a strong partnership.
- Maintain all tracking documentation needed for PKC plant, includes latest drawing revisions, latest specification revisions, program parts list, program APQP issues list and new component tracking.
- Will spend considerable time on-site with customer's engineering department.
- Education and Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- At least three (3) years relevant work experience as a program engineer or relevant engineering role, including experience in automotive industry and in wire harness design and manufacturing.
- Prior experience in a role that required frequent interface with the customer.
- 5 years of electrical distribution systems experience
- PMP Credential
- Experience in automotive industry
- Experience in wire harness industry
- Bilingual, English and Spanish
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and have advanced-level skills with Excel
- Print and Schematic Knowledge
- LEAN
- Understanding of APQP
- 5 Phase, 8D, 5 whys
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Project Management - Plans and executes responsibilities with minimal direction.
- Technical ability to trouble-shoot and rework harness issues found by customer as needed.
- Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time, both domestically and internationally supporting program activities.
- Medium physical activity - ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- High level of initiative, be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Able to manage stressful situations and deadline pressures.
- Plans and executes responsibilities with minimal direction.
