Capital Projects Engineer

Under general direction, this position plans, designs, and reviews construction plans for projects in the Capital Improvements Program related to paving, drainage, water, and sewer infrastructure. Position performs all contract management functions for these projects.
Qualifications
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and hydrology and hydraulic engineering related to the design, construction, and maintenance of public works projects.
• Knowledge of surveying principles and practices and procedures, drafting, design, and inspection of public works projects.
• Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to public works projects.
• Knowledge of the methods, equipment, and materials used in surface and underground construction and maintenance.
• Skill in implementation of roadway, water, sewer, and drainage criteria.
• Skill in planning, organizing and coordinating multiple engineering projects.
• Skill in writing and interpreting engineering specifications.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and convey technical information in an easily understood manner.
• Ability to apply local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to public works projects and development projects.
• Ability to write clear, concise reports regarding engineering issues.
• Ability to use independent judgment and make sound decisions.
Grad Engineer / Civil Engineer / Sr. Civil Engineer - Capital Improvements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduate Engineer- Capital Improvements
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
Civil Engineer - Capital Improvements
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Two years of experience in the field of public works engineering.
Senior Civil Engineer - Capital Improvements
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
• Five or more years of experience in the field of development and /or public works engineering.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Graduate Engineer - Capital Improvements
• Registration as an Engineer-in-Training in the State of Texas or ability to obtain within six months.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
Civil Engineer - Capital Improvements
• Registration as a licensed engineer in the State of Texas or ability to obtain a license within six months.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
Senior Civil Engineer - Capital Improvements
• Registration as a licensed engineer in the State of Texas.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
