The School Based Clinician will provide group services to at risk youth and presentations to school staff, parents and community members on various mental health topics to increase awareness of stigma associated with mental health and students within the school environment.

Part-time 25 hours per week, Monday - Friday based on client and school needs. This position comes with a $2,000 sign-on bonus.

Specific Responsibilities:

1. Conduct questionnaires, score, assess and refer students that meet criteria for mental health services in a school setting.

2. Implement the Michigan Model for Health and other SEL curriculum.

3. Provide group therapy with students

4. Coordinate services with mental health and medical professionals, including psychiatrists, physicians and nurses;

5. Facilitate collateral contacts with representatives from schools and other community organizations on behalf of children and families;

6. Link families with resources available in the community;

7. Assist families in becoming enrolled in additional mental health services through The Guidance Center or another mental health agency

8. Help to identify and eliminate barriers to services;

9. Work collaboratively with a team of professionals and paraprofessionals within the school environment;

10. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with people and organizations in the community;

11. Make referrals to Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services as needed;

12. Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, case consultations and training as needed;

13. Facilitate trainings and in-services to students, school staff, parents, and community members

14. Participate in after school hours activities such as open houses, parent/teacher conferences, back to school fairs, community events, etc.

15. Complete clinical documentation in a timely manner consistent with policies and procedures of The Guidance Center; develop, maintain and review complete case records;

16. Participate in program evaluation and program development initiatives;

17. Seek consultation with the Supervisor as needed;

18. Complete 24 hours of program and or job specific training on an annual basis; Complete assigned courses in Relias, DWC, ALICE, KnowBe4, and other systems to remain compliant with agency requirements

19. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

To qualify for this position, you will need the following:

  • Must have a Masters Degree or higher and be a Psychologist (TLLP, LLP, or LP), Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) or Limited Licensed Master's Social Worker (LLMSW) supervised by a Licensed Master's Social Worker, or a Limited Licensed Professional Counselor (LLPC) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
  • Must possess and retain current licensure in the State of Michigan.
  • Must meet Michigan Department of Community Health requirements of a Child Mental Health Professional (CMHP).
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in the examination, evaluation and treatment of minors and their families is preferred.
  • Must be able to engage and maintain therapeutic relationships with children & adolescents and develop collaborative relationship with our providers.
  • Able to assess and intervene within complex family and community systems and the wiliness to be flexible, patient and creative.
  • Valid chauffeur's license and favorable driving record is required. Candidates who do not have a chauffeur's license may still apply, but must acquire one by the end of their first month of employment.
  • Additional requirements include: a nonjudgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experiences of individual families, the ability to develop collaborative relationships with other providers, strong leadership skills, effective interpersonal communication skills, and a willingness to be flexible, patient and creative.
