Central Oregon Pediatric Associates (COPA) of Bend, Oregon, Central Oregon’s largest independent pediatric practice, is hiring a full-time Pediatric Registered Nurse - Clinical Operations RN. This role works 5 8-hour shifts including 3 weekday and 2 weekend days.

At COPA, the Pediatric Registered Nurse - Clinical Operations RN is a member of the Clinical Operations Department and is an integral member of the Patient-Centered Primary Care Home. As a Care Team member, the primary roles of the Clinical Operations Nurse are to support patient care activities in the department through assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of the infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent patient and is responsible for meeting the standards of care established by the organization. This position includes shared evening and weekend shift expectation within the Clinical Operations department. Once training/orientation is completed this position will work ideally in a provider partnership.

The role of the Pediatric Registered Nurse will include but is not limited to the following duties:
  • Conducts individualized patient assessments, prioritizing the data collection based on the infant, toddler, preschool, school age or adolescent patients’ immediate condition or needs within timeframe specified by practice’s policies, procedures, or protocols.
  • Escorts patients to exam rooms while collecting patient history and vital signs.
  • Conducts screening tests and grades them as appropriate.
  • Provides necessary medical information at time of visit.
  • Demonstrates thorough, concise, and timely documentation in the patient’s medical record related to the care rendered and the patient’s response to that care and in accordance with department and organizational guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to plan, organize and prioritize nursing care effectively.
  • Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by the physician in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to accurately forecast and administer pediatric immunizations.
  • Demonstrates EHR efficiency and knowledge.
  • Demonstrates thorough, concise, and timely documentation in the patient’s medical record related to the care rendered and the patient’s response to that care.
  • Self-motivated and able to make decisions independently while supporting the practice’s philosophy and values.
  • Performs RN appointments independently within scope of practice, using appropriate clinical decision making.
  • Provides individualized patient and family education.
  • Assists in the monitoring, procurement and proper inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains own clinical skills staying current in skills, equipment, and trends in nursing.
  • Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
  • Performs other related work as directed by immediate supervisor.
  • Performs patient care during scheduled shift hours.
  • Follow the COPA privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, standards, and techniques and demonstrates knowledge in accordance with COPA mission, strategic plan, policies and procedures and pertinent laws and regulations.
  • Supports COPA and clinic vision, values, and mission
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Certification: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing program. Licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Oregon and license must be in good standing. Valid Oregon Driver's License.

Experience: Refer to Pediatric Registered Nurse knowledge and skills checklist. Must have experience with working with electronic medical records systems, Epic preferred and MS Office. Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, to stand, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and or move up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Working Conditions: The employee is subject to hazards: including a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to mechanical parts and chemicals including odors. The employee at times is required to wear a facemask, gown and or gloves. The employee has been identified as having the likelihood of occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials, therefore are included in the OSHA Exposure Control Plan with its specification for preventing contact with the above materials.
