POSITION: Information Technology Intern

REPORTS TO: Information Technology Director

CLASS: Non-Exempt

DATE: August 4, 2023

ROLE

Ensure the efficient operation of the Credit Union by providing technical support help, assistance in resolving IT compliance issues, and help with database reporting. This includes but is not limited to configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all new and existing network hardware, software, and communication devices/links. Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to work collaboratively and coordinate between technical and non-technical associates within and outside of the group.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Work help desk submissions to completion in a timely manner, such as new user setup, application access, exchange email, and intranet website updates.
  2. Responds in a timely fashion to end users' needs and concerns relating to computer business applications and general systems issues.
  3. Provides primary support for the credit union's network, PC/LAN, and servers, which includes planning, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting wide area communications, database systems, network and systems security, access controls, and network and system hardware and software.
  4. Track and create service requests and incidents with core vendors, including problem-solving processes, decisions, actions, and resolutions.
  5. IT compliance.
  6. Support disaster recovery, and monitor and test backups.
  7. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
  • Follows and supports all compliance rules, regulations, and policies at the state and federal levels, as well as all Credit Union policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to safety and security programs designed to minimize loss relating to fraud and robbery. Follows and contributes to effective Credit Union security by ensuring that member information and computer systems are secure at all times.
  • To maintain a professional work environment, promote teamwork, build respect among coworkers and maintain a businesslike appearance.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
  1. Meet daily department demands on a timely basis.
  2. Provide accurate and timely reports.
  3. Ensure prompt response to and recovery from systems and network-related production interruptions, across multiple hardware platforms, networks, and operating systems.
  4. Respond to the system and network security/integrity risks, and ensure adequate safeguards are maintained to prevent interruptions to service or corruption of system information and processes.
  5. Work cordially, collaboratively, and coordinate between technical and non-technical associates, or employees, within or outside of the Credit Union.


Requirements

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

Any combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described.

EXPERIENCE:

One to three years of similar or related experience.

SKILLS:

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Previous experience including networks, PCs, data communications, and PC programming and data organization.

Ability to discuss technical issues effectively with other data processing professionals as well as non-technical users.

Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work and travel independently.

Other Preferred skills or knowledge:

Previous data processing experience

SQL database administration

PowerShell, or Python and SQL knowledge or experience

VMware and virtualization technologies

Experience with backup systems and software

Ability to troubleshoot wireless network problems

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Windows PC and Server Operating Systems. Knowledge of databases, manipulating data, and reporting. Some knowledge of computing virtual environments. Knowledge of routers and switches. Familiarity with financial processing systems is helpful.

Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment ranges from quiet, to moderately noisy, where automated equipment is in operation. It is a non-smoking environment.
