WORK WHILE GOING TO SCHOOL And RCO Pays For Your Education In order to continually develop new talent for our skilled trades' positions, we are instituting this training program to bring in new talent, train them in conjunction with Macomb Community College and put them to work to encourage knowledge retention and validation for the training they have received. The program offered is for Injection Mold Makers. The curriculum is 53 credits spread over three years. Candidates will be required to meet the following criteria before starting in the program: High School Diploma or Equivalent Must be able to meet Macomb Community College acceptance criteria Meet any RCO employment requirements (background check, drug screen, etc.) Provide a Letter of Recommendation from previous employer, teacher or clergy. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude (Bennett Mechanical Test through Macomb) Acceptable results on the Work Keys Performance Test through Macomb Acceptable results on the Applied Math evaluation through Macomb Interview with HR and Department Manager Classes must be a part of the approved RCO Apprenticeship Curriculum. RCO may cover other classes; however, they would be handled under the RCO Tuition Refund Plan. Students must attempt to schedule classes to provide the least disruption in their regular work day. While in the program, students must take at least two (2), but no more than four (4) classes per semester. Exceptions to this and the schedule requirement may be requested and approved on a case-by-case basis through the Human Resources Department and the students' supervisor. Students are required to maintain a grade point average of 2.8 or higher to remain in the program. In the event that a student receives less than a 2.8 grade, the company may, at its discretion, deduct the cost of that particular class and any fees, books, etc. from the student's pay check(s). Two classes with grades under 2.8 may result in the employee being dropped from the program. The course curriculum will be evaluated on an annual basis. Students will be evaluated by their supervisors at the completion of the fall and winter semesters. Students must work full-time while attending classes paid for by the company. Students will be considered full time employees for benefit purposes if they perform satisfactorily in the classroom and work an average of at least thirty (30) hours per week. They are still permitted to be in the program if they work less than thirty (30) hours, but may not be eligible for benefits.
