Type: Contract/ Temp/ Ongoing
Schedule: 07:30am-07:30pm Mon and Wed., 07:30am-04:00 Fr
Location: Pensylvania

Summary:
An outpatient Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) works in a private practice or clinic setting, under the supervision of a physical therapist, to provide direct patient care by implementing treatment plans through exercises, manual therapy techniques, and equipment usage, helping patients regain mobility and function following injuries or illnesses, while documenting progress and communicating findings to the supervising physical therapist; essentially assisting with patient rehabilitation in an outpatient setting.

Key responsibilities of an outpatient PTA include:
• Patient Evaluation and Treatment:
• Performing initial patient evaluations under the direction of the physical therapist, including taking measurements and assessing range of motion, strength, and functional abilities.
• Implementing treatment plans designed by the physical therapist, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy techniques like massage and stretching, and gait training.
• Monitoring patient progress during therapy sessions and reporting any changes or concerns to the physical therapist.

Equipment Usage:
• Setting up and instructing patients on the proper use of therapeutic equipment such as walkers, crutches, and exercise machines.
• Adapting equipment to meet individual patient needs.

Patient Education:
• Educating patients on home exercise programs and self-management strategies to maintain their progress after therapy sessions.
• Instructing patients and family members on proper body mechanics and safety precautions.
• Documentation and Communication:
• Maintaining accurate and detailed patient records, including daily treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge summaries.
• Communicating effectively with the supervising physical therapist regarding patient progress, concerns, and any necessary treatment modifications.

Clinical Responsibilities:
• Adhering to all ethical and legal standards related to patient care and practice.
• Maintaining current knowledge of physical therapy practices and techniques through continuing education.
• Collaborating with other healthcare professionals involved in the patient's care.
