Responsibilities The Supervisor Surgical Technologist is responsible for leading the daily and administrative functions of Technician positions employing demonstrated expertise in surgical services within pre/post-op and intraoperative care. The position, partnering closely with the Director of Nursing, provides direction and leadership to ensure safe an effective care. Principal responsibilities include providing oversight of the daily operations by managing resources and creating an environment of staff accountability to deliver a high-quality patient outcome. The Supervisor Surgical Technologist serves as a role model promoting competent patient care and compliance with quality improvement programs. This position manages staff schedules, materials, and the organizational needs by employing effective collaboration and communication with staff, surgeons, anesthesia personnel, and other nursing and non-nursing personnel. Ensure patient needs are met in accordance with instructions of physician and facility’s policies & procedures. Demonstrates respect for co-workers & develops positive working relationships with other departments. Communicates with courtesy when interacting with patients, physicians, hospital staff, vendors and the public – in person, on the telephone, or by email. Coordinates and performs activities routinely as appropriate with the Director of Nursing, Medical Director, and the Quality Committee(s). Performs the role of surgical scrub when needed by anticipating the needs of the surgeon and keeping the circulating nurse informed of any needs throughout a procedure. Ensures all supplies, equipment and medications are assembled prior to the start of the procedure. Responsible for ensuring all new equipment requests are appropriately analyzed based on utilization and data from the provider. Develops and utilizes a process for effective fiscal management, including utilization of materials and supplies. Controls and manages inventory expense and coordinate accounts payable functions with AP Maintains center inventory required recordkeeping and completes all required follow-up procedures and reports with appropriate teammates and medical staff regarding inventory management according to center policy and procedures, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. Ensures adequate par levels within the Operating Room are maintained at all times. Ensures the timely process of orders and POs. Promotes safe environment. Takes appropriate action in emergency situations, being aware of and controlling hazards which may endanger patients, visitors, and employees. Leads orientation of all new surgical techs and ongoing education initiatives. Assists the team with safe and appropriate operating room turnover times. Identifies potentially unsafe situations and notifies supervisor. Follows CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, and performs handwashing according to policy. Strictly adheres to all infection control practices and diligently monitors aseptic technique of the entire surgical team. Takes immediate corrective action for breaks in technique. Assists in making adjustments to staffing. Participates in the preparation of the budget. Monitors KPIs in conjunction with the Director of Nursing. Identifies and resolves complex or recurring operational problems and consults with the Director of Nursing. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent Current CPR 2-5 years ASC or hospital Experience REQUIRED Multispecialty surgical experience strongly preferred. Center is heavy in Urology, ophthalmology, ENT, pain management, and gastroenterology Must be personable, friendly, and exhibit flexibility and positive interpersonal skills Knowledge of typical OR equipment required USD $80,000.00/Yr. USD $95,000.00/Yr.
