ROLE PURPOSE/ POSITION SUMMARY The PLC Controls Technician, working within the Maintenance Department, is responsible for the industrial maintenance execution in the primary discipline of instrumentation, PLC, controls and electrical distribution. This position will require flexibility both with performing troubleshooting and design tasks on PLCs, HMIs, and automated systems primarily on the manufacturing floor as well as performing electrical distribution and mechanical system maintenance as required based on personnel availability and operational need. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Tests and troubleshoots issues with systems to identify the cause of the problem Adjusts the programming language used in systems based on the needs of the projects Designs and builds new systems using existing software or creating new software from scratch Performs regular maintenance on computer systems, such as updating software and backing up data Conducts initial setup of equipment and machinery, including wiring diagrams and diagrams of control systems Installs, maintains, and repairs industrial control systems to regulate the flow of materials or process operations such as machinery, computer networks, and heating and cooling systems Coordinates with other technicians and engineers to troubleshoot malfunctions in complex industrial systems Installs and maintains electrical components such as motors, switches, relays, and transformers Analyzes data provided by sensors to provide feedback to other applications or equipment Follow all company policies including but not limited to general manufacturing and safety practices Perform any other duties as instructed by management QUALIFICATIONS/CAPABILITY PROFILE Minimum Education and Experience Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or 5 years minimum of overall work experience in production manufacturing environment, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in electrical maintenance including troubleshooting, repair and PM and knowledge of personal/process control computers, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and Networking devices Allen Bradley experience preferred Experience with process controls, remote operations and SCADA systems Experience and knowledge of programing PLCs/HMIs, robots, and electrical devices AutoCad experience a plus Minimum Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities Good math, oral/written communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to write work orders, parts requests, shift logs, routine reports and correspondence Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals. Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb and/or sit frequently or through the duration of the shift. Required to reach with hands and arms; and climb or balance. Have appropriate eye, hand and foot coordination to properly execute position Ability to understand and comprehend complex engineering drawings, implement the design as intended, and make recommendations when applicable Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Systems (CMMS) 480v 3 phase knowledge required Excellent troubleshooting skills Understanding of AC circuits, VFDs, Low Voltage control wiring, motors, panels, etc. Excellent organizational and project skills as all work will revolve around multiple on-going projects Apply today and join our rapidly growing team - Inc. 5000 #1,085 fastest growing company in the USA.
